Upside Rooftop Bar

So you’ve eaten your way to the top of 127 Brunswick Street, which includes Japanese izakaya Ichi Ni Nana, and Asian hawker hall Village People, and now you find yourself at Upside Rooftop Bar, one of Melbourne's top rooftops for drinks, share plates and good times.

This small but perfectly formed bar is one that we have fallen head-over-heels for, and we’re not going to lie… They’re our faves because of their extensive list of booze! For whisky lovers, there’s the Hattori Hanzo, a smooth blend of Nikka from the barrel whisky, shochu spirit and sweet vermouth. On a night out with the girls? Try the frothy Khing Sour, containing yuzu, gin, ginger liquer and eggwhite served in a sugar-rimmed Champagne flute. But if you’re playing it cool, the popular choices seem to be bottles of local wine, off-menu Bloody Marys, plus pints of Kirin and bottles of Boatrocker Big Love beer.

Upside's vibe makes it a fantastic choice for a midweek date, especially if you're keen to avoid the CBD crowds. The light bites menu includes a variety of small sharing plates to keep hunger at bay and, if typical Melbourne weather takes over, take cover in the inside bar, where you’ll find comfy seats, a DJ booth and a handful of extra tables. 

With a host of local DJs lined up for the coming weeks, as well as one of the best Sunday sessions on the Brunswick Street strip, we simply can't fault this hidden treasure.
