By Hana Okada
11th May 2017

We know you’re ready to fill this weekend up with all the fabulous events Auckland has to offer. Cement your position with mum as favourite child this Mother’s Day with a high tea or a fun run! Even better, this weekend is totally out of the ordinary—from a banana-dancing world record, a wine fest, and a zombie run… go on, it’s time to get planning!

All Weekend

Delve deep into the man behind the madness and music during the Auckland Theatre Company’s ASB Season of Amadeus. A winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Play, Peter Schaffer’s psychologically thrilling drama about the life and times of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is not to be missed. Dancer-actor Ross McCormack takes the reigns as Mozart, who will be met by Mozart’s murderous rival and conniving court composer Salieri, played by none other than Michael Hurst. You’ve heard his music, it’s time to hear his story at this theatrical extravaganza!

Cirque Grande

This brand new circus is on its very first tour in New Zealand! Be amazed by the skill, dazzled by the beauty and flabbergasted by the strength of these top international performers. Of course, it wouldn't be a great circus without the fall-off-your-seat-laughing clown appearances, which there will be aplenty of. What makes it an extraordinary circus, you ask? Special guest African acrobats will have you holding your breath as they defy gravity in their next-level performances.
