Can you believe that it’s November already?! We can't, that’s for sure. With just over eight weeks until Christmas, we need to be making sure that the time in between is time well spent. Well, aren’t you glad that we’re in your lives? 

We have saved you the time-consuming and somewhat stressful task of deciding what to do when you have precious time off. With food festivals, Christmas fairs and an array of international and local music gigs on offer, the ‘I’m bored’ or ‘there’s nothing to do’ lines, won’t work with us, sorry. 

Melbourne Cup Day | 1st November

Back for another iconic year and expected to showcase even more fashion, racing and action, Melbourne Cup Day is definitely the racing day of the year. Grab a glass of bubbly and keep those fingers crossed as your horse (hopefully!) takes the win! Click here for the best places to watch the action. 

Cactus And Succulent Fair | 4th — 6th November

Possibly one of the most popular trends to come out of 2016, cacti and succulents have taken the world by storm. Coming in different shapes and sizes (sometimes phallic!) and with little upkeep, they are the perfect plant for those who are often found guilty of neglecting their poor, potted friend. Grow your collection at this specialised show and fair this November.

After a sell-out debut last year, Project Botanicals is back with its unique dining and drinking experience. This two week pop-up event gives gin lovers the opportunity to enjoy a specially crafted cocktail menu alongside perfectly paired dishes inspired by the magic behind the blue bottle.

The Federal Street Festival | 11th — 12th November

The Federal Street Festival is back and better than ever! The fest showcases Federal Street’s best restaurants with a wide display of dishes and tasters alongside an array of family-friendly activities. Wear your flashing red armband with pride and run either 5k or 10k around the streets of Auckland. Raising awareness for paralysis, this is a fun way to join a great, worldwide cause. Also, it’ll be dark, so no one can see your sweaty, red face. Win win!

Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards | 17th November 

Celebrating the best in Kiwi music, the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards is a night of live performances, achievements and unbelievable Kiwi talent. Hosted by Jono and Ben, the night is set to come plenty of laughs alongside well-deserved wins and proud-as-punch Kiwi music.

Night Noodle Markets | November 30th - 4th December

Think authentic curries, delectable dumplings, lip-smackingly good grilled bbq meat and, of course, everyone’s fave, noodles. Now that we’ve got you hungry, it’s time to head over to Victoria Park (Beaumont St end) for Auckland’s very own Night Noodle Market. With stalls galore, entertainment and licensed booze, it’s the perfect foodie stop off.
