21 Wonderful Things To Do In Auckland This November

Before we know it, we’ve almost reached the end of the year! When did that happen? While you ponder this and all of life’s other mysteries, we’ve compiled a wicked line up of where to be and what to do to make the most of November. The days are warmer, the nights are longer and summer is just around the corner, so it's about time you get planning for an extravaganza that is the epic eleventh month in the City of Sails!

Te Pō | 1 November—4 November

Where is the playwright Bruce Mason? Why has he suddenly gone missing? What made him leave his desk in such a hurry and disappear into the night? Q Theatre's new production Te Pō investigates his disappearance, led by Detective Inspector Brett. He immediatelty finds two prime suspects waiting in Bruce’s study, the local minister Reverend Athol Sedgwick—who is hiding something—and the blind Werihe. This production is all about love outlasting death, and about love waiting in the dark for you to find her again.

Day of the Dead: Margarita Masterclass | 2 November 

Jose Cuervo and Mexico are joining forces for the Day of the Dead celebrations across their six locations! Become a master in the fine art of making (and consuming!) margaritas and celebrate! Big Buddy: Lula’s Charity Long Lunch | 3 November

With raffles and priceless auction items all raising funds for Big Buddy, it’s the perfect excuse to get out of the office and celebrate the warmer weather—all for a good cause! Proceeds of this event go to Big Buddy, a mentoring charity working on the simple philosophy that boys need good male role models in their lives to become good men.

World In A Day Foodie Walking Tour | 4 November

Cranked Retro Festival | 5 November

The Cranked Retro Festival is a free family event celebrating an era of yesteryear, full of fun and vibrance. There’s a retro car show competition, world’s first Retro Cardboard Box Derby, prizes, giveaways, and competition. Live band Recliner Rockers will keep you entertained, and food trucks and coffee onsite will keep you fuelled to keep you going!

Paws in Parnell | 5 November

OMF Melbourne Cup Day | 7 November 

Let’s be honest, it’s only fitting to spend Melbourne Cup Day at a racecourse. Gypsy Pop Up Week | 6 November—8 November

It’s Gypsy Caravan’s first ever pop-up week! Hosting renowned chefs from Sydney and Auckland, as well as their very own head chef, it’s three days of damn good food. Monday welcomes Conor Wiremu, Head Chef at Orphans Kitchen and Alok Vasanth, Head Chef at Cassia. Tuesday brings Modern Jewish to Gypsy Caravan by Adam Wolfers from Sydney. Finally, Wednesday shines the light on Feleoko Vegan by Gypsy Caravan’s very own Head Chef, Touvai ‘Tee’ Poloniati!

Vodka Room Special Event | 8 November

Join Vodka Room’s Chef’s Table for a special five-course meal with matching vodka spis designed by Head Chef Murray Wiblin. Seated right next to the gold-tiled pass, Murray will talk you through the meal and the inspiration behind the food and the décor of the stunning Ponsonby restaurant. The combination of dream-pop music and heartbreakingly human lyrics appeal to the country and beyond, and she is about to set the stage on fire with her talent back on home soil.

Euro Spring Series—Lunch with Rhana Devonport | 16 November

Celebrating the arrival of spring, Euro Spring Series brings a line up of unmissable lunches, designed around conversations with Auckland’s preeminent culture-makers and city-shapers. This time around meet Auckland Art Gallery director Rhana Devenport’s conversation with Paperboy editor Jeremy Hansen. Since her appointment four years ago, Rhana has overseen an ambitious and exciting series of exhibitions at the gallery and travelled to the Venice Biennale to curate artist Lisa Reihana’s In Pursuit of Venus [infected].
