The weather is heating up, the days are getting longer and so it’s time to get out and about and make the most of what Auckland has on offer.
We’re alllll about the food this week with a vegan degustation and a celebration of Urban Street Food’s first birthday just the start of our list! Here’s the best things to do in Auckland this week.
Matilda The Musical
If there’s one musical you don’t want to miss this year, it’s Matilda. First a book, then a movie, Roald Dahl's epic story has now been brought to life! She’s smart, she’s funny and she’s not afraid to stand up for herself—or others. In this multi award-winning musical, you’ll be taken on a journey of loneliness, hilarity and bravery as Matilda takes on the dreaded Trunchbull.
Monday 28 August
Greens And Tea
This Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, head along to Mt Eden’s The Midnight Baker for a delicious five-course vegan degustation! The modern Chinese-inspired menu created by Judge Bao will be paired with five organic teas from Silk Tea. Oh yes, please!
Tuesday 29 August
Sri Lankan Street Food Night
From the streets of Sri Lanka to the streets of Auckland comes a night of eats that will keep your belly happy. Held at Dominion Road’s popular restaurant, 7 Siri—Taste of Sri Lanka, you’ll be treated to a welcome drink and starters before chowing down on kottu roti, appa, dosa, six curries and you can finish it all up with a delicious dessert.
Wednesday 30 August
Night At Beirut
Head along to Beirut for an exclusive taste of their new menu this Wednesday. Created by Alexandre Vallee (formerly of The Grove), and Executive Chef Sam Campbell, you’ll enjoy the flavours of authentic and fusion Middle Eastern Dishes. Naturally, you’ll need exceptional wine to match, and Two Rivers have you covered.
Thursday 31 August
Urban Street Fest
We can’t believe it’s been an entire YEAR since the Urban Street Fest popped up in Auckland. To celebrate, they’ll be hitting Henderson’s Corban Estate Arts Centre this Thursday for an evening of epic eats and beats. All the usual (and best) suspects will be there—Double Dutch Fries, NomNom, Judge Bao and Guerrilla Grill, to name a few. There will also be live music from Lee Gray Music for a total party vibe.
