5 Totally Rad Things To Do This Week In Auckland

Aucklanders, there’s no excuse for staying in this week. Okay? Absolutely no excuse. With so many epic plays and musicals on this week—as well as an epic food truck night and a degustation for doggies—staying home is, quite frankly, not an option.

All Week

West Side Story

One of the world’s most iconic musicals is hitting Auckland! If you’re a musical theatre-lover then you’ll be stoked to know that West Side Story officially here. Taking centre stage at The Civic for this week (and beyond), this classical tale is the ideal way to indulge in a night of theatre.

Mon 26th June

Larger Than Life

Chase away the Monday blues and head to Larger Than Life’s second-to-last performance at Te Pou Theatre, Auckland’s home of Māori Theatre, tonight. This home-grown show just oozes Kiwiana will take you on an adventure through 60’s, 70’s and 80’s Aotearoa. Brimming with kiwi humour, this show is sure to fill you with nostalgic vibes!

Tuesday 27th June

Hudson & Halls Live!

Silo Theatre Company’s Hudson & Halls Live! Is premiering at Q Theatre tonight! After an epic season (that included racking up some snazzy awards) in Wellington in 2016, this smash-hit comedy is bringing it’s hilarity up to Auckland. This show will take you back to 1980’s and take you through NZ TV personalities Peter Hudson and David Halls’ journey and love story.

The Doggy Degustation

Treat your four-pawed furry friend to a fancy dinner at Canine Collective’s Pop-Up Shop in Ponsonby Central. Yep, you read that right, a three-course doggy degustation is a real thing. Of course, there’ll be some nibbles for the humans and some doggy bags (geddit?!) full of goodies to take home! As if it couldn’t get better, 50% of the proceeds are going to puppy-related charities!

Wednesday 28th June

The Moon Cake and The Kūmara

While the title may sound like a delicious buffet, this play is an equally delicious NZ love story. This play explores the story of two families and a Maori-Chinese love affair that sprouts in a market garden in New Zealand. Opening tonight at Q Theatre (and continuing till July), this award-winning play is not to be missed!

Thursday 29th June

The Truck Stop

Our fave Parnell hangout, La Cigale is having a food truck night! Yippeeee! Come along with an empty belly, wearing your eating pants and ready to taste your way around the smorgasbord of different foods on offer. There's gonna be all kinds of our finger-lickin' foods on offer from gelato to pasta and errthing in between.
