We’re not quite sure where the year is gone, but we’ve blinked and it’s November. Do you know what that means? A whole new month of epic events to get behind. Now that summer is near and the rainy days are almost finally gone, it means more outdoor events, boozy events, and all day events not to be missed. From carnivals to festivals and markets to pop-ups, this month is full of exciting things to do. 

Here are the best things to do in Auckland this November.

Carnaval Festival | 2—3 November

Clock out of work and head straight to the party, because SKYCITY is where it’s at. Carnaval Festival, taking place over two days, is here to start your November the right way. With lights, colour and entertainment, SKYCITY is transforming Federal Street into a buzzing hub, coming alive with two stages of live music and dance, market stalls, and a kid’s zone with face painting and activities. You’ll be well fed from a selection of Auckland’s best food trucks, so you can keep the party going into the night.

Taste Of Auckland | 1 November

The 10th Taste of Auckland is here and ready to wow all of your senses. Immerse yourself in the best of Auckland’s food and drink scene for a fun-filled afternoon or evening. Spend the day on Auckland’s waterfront, and dine on signature dishes of some of our city’s best restaurants. Meet the chefs, taste flights of wine, get interactive with one of the classes on offer and so much more.

Jose Cuervo’s Day Of The Dead Dome | 2 November

Are tequila and a fiesta your kind of weekend? Head to the dome under SKYCITY for two nights only, where Jose Cuervo will be hosting their Day of the Dead Dome. Filled with Mexican street food, live entertainment, Day of the Dead face painting, Mexican street games and specially crafted Cuervo Margaritas, get ready for a day and night of Mexican celebrations done right.

Day Of The Dead | 2 November

Celebrate this important Mexican celebration with none other than Mexico. All Mexico locations are celebrating Day of the Dead with a special Día de Muertos menu for this day only, with margarita specials, Jose Cuervo tequila tastings and more. That’s not all, if you celebrate with Mexico, you’ll be in the draw to win seats at the table at their infamous Margarita Masterclass with four friends. The La Zeppa Summer Carnival | 3 November

La Zeppa’s highlight Summer Carnival is back. Delivering big sets, big crowds and big beats, they’re here to do it all over again. Paws In Parnell | 4 November

Auckland’s original market for your furry best friend is back for its second season. Paws in Parnell is taking over Heard Park in Parnell, creating a dreamland for dogs young, and young at heart. Lula’s Melbourne Cup Day | 6 November

Another excuse for a party? Thursday never sounded better. Head to Lula’s for their Melbourne Cup Day celebrations. In true Lula’s fashion, celebrate in style with a four-course mouthwatering menu with matchin beverages—including a cheeky glass of G.H Mumm. One of the biggest days of the year is here, and if you’re not lucky enough to be across the ditch for it, this might just be the next best thing. Fashion on Federal takes over Federal Street to celebrate the best of race day fashion. Say ‘cheers!’ to Melbourne Cup Day with a delicious long lunch, as you gaze your eyes upon a runway more than 400 meters long, looping through restaurants to the lofty heights of The Sugar Club. This lunch with a show is not to be missed. 

Pop-Up Globe Auckland 2018/19 Season | 9 November—15 January

Bawdy, hilarious and bloodsoaked, this isn’t Shakespeare from Year 12. If you haven’t been to a season of Pop-up Globe this far in your Auckland life, be prepared to have your life changed. If you’ve been every single season since its premiere, you know you’re going to have your life changed anyway. This season presents Shakespeare’s exploration into power and controversial comedy with some iconic works such as The Taming of the Shrew, Richard III and Hamlet. Don’t miss the incredible, immersive experience of Shakespeare performed in the space for which it was written. 

Urban Wine Walk | 10 November

The streets, laneways and footpaths of Ponsonby will come alive as the neighbourhood’s best venues open their doors, transforming into the ultimate self-guided wine tasting experience. Food trucks are great, and even better overlooking the water. You can get both when you get Dinner at French Bay. It’s back for another epic summer season, joined by Auckland’s best food trucks. Their bar has taps flowing, and the music is sorted by The Staples, this delicious foodie night is not to be missed. Serving up their goodness is Temaki Truck, Mama Tahina, Captain Crepes, Little French Pastry and so much more.

The Freeman & Grey Spring Fling | 17 November

As we come to the tail end of spring, it’s time to see it off with a bang at Freeman & Grey’s Spring Fling. Brought to you by Gordon’s Pink Gin, this all-day, all-night two-floored festival is what your inner-city festy dreams are made of. Spring blossoms, booze, beats and eats come together for a whopping day and night of fun. From the boozy brunch, move onto the day sesh, and get cosy with the sundown… will you make it to the club bangers? 

ZM’s Friday Jams | 18 November

Dating In The Dark | 21 November

Fiesta Del Sol 2018 | 24 November

Summer festival legends High Life is bringing back Fiesta Del Sol into the urban surrounds of Smales Farm. Bringing CRAZIBIZA’s one show only on their world tour, along with Clicks, Alex Q, Otozan, Karn Hall and more, fun in the sun never sounded so good. Dig into delicious food from Black Stag Deli, Double Dutch Fries and Yeah Bowl, and refresh yourself with a Lalele Gelato… once that’s done, you’ll be ready to keep the party going late into the night.

Bombay Sapphire Presents The Living Gallery | 21—25 November

Taking over The Glasshouse, Bombay Sapphire is serving up gin like never before in its very own (living!) art gallery. This interactive experience is all about art, and the art of cocktails, and pushing the boundaries past the classic G&T. Some of New Zealand’s best bars and mixologists are coming together to create four uniquely different cocktails, matched with an interactive space with everything from tonic taps and smell jars as you truly immerse yourself in the world of gin.
