Romance, in Singapore, comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s candlelight and white tablecloths, sometimes it’s city lights from 50 storeys up, and sometimes it’s sitting elbow-to-elbow at a counter while a chef quietly works magic in front of you. Whether you’re planning a first date that needs just the right amount of atmosphere, an anniversary dinner that calls for something special, or a long-overdue night out where the food does half the talking, choosing the right restaurant matters more than we like to admit.

The good news? Singapore does romance exceptionally well. From intimate omakase counters and garden-set fine dining rooms to rooftop restaurants with skyline views and moody shophouse hideaways, the city is packed with places designed for lingering conversations and shared plates. We're looking at spaces that feel considered, food that invites sharing, and settings that quietly elevate the evening without stealing the spotlight.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up the most romantic restaurants in Singapore where the vibe is just as important as what’s on the plate.

temper

Entering temper is like entering an enclave. Turn a corner and the space expands into a lush and intimate space that invites conversation. In the early evening, temper is made for unhurried dinners where the mood is soft, the lighting forgiving, and the food confidently restrained. The room leans elegant without being stuffy, with warm tones and soft seats that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

The menu revolves around contemporary cooking with seasonal finesse, balancing refined technique with flavours that feel comforting rather than showy. Expect carefully plated dishes that invite sharing, backed by a considered wine list and cocktails that keep things interesting without stealing focus. Come nightfall, temper amps up with a great music programming, so you'll have to draw closer to your loved one for any conversations. Or, whisk them away for a dance. It's an easy pick for romance without trying too hard.

Lawry's The Prime Rib

333A Orchard Road, #04-01/31

A classic for a reason, Lawry’s The Prime Rib is old-school romance done properly. Think plush carpets, dark wood interiors and tables set for lingering over conversation, wine and exceptionally well-executed beef. It’s unapologetically traditional, which is exactly what makes it such a reliable choice for anniversaries, birthdays and dinners where the intention is clear from the moment you sit down.

The star, of course, is the prime rib. It's carved tableside, generously portioned, and served with all the trimmings that have earned Lawry’s its loyal following over decades. There’s something inherently romantic about the ritual here, from the attentive service to the sense that time slows down just a little once dinner begins. If you’re after a date night spot that leans classic and consistent, this one still delivers in spades.

VUE

50 Collyer Quay, Rooftop Level 19

Perched high above the city, VUE is all about skyline drama paired with refined European-inspired dining. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views of Marina Bay, while the dining room itself stays polished and intimate, striking the right balance between special-occasion glamour and relaxed elegance. It’s a natural choice when you want the setting to do some of the heavy lifting.

The menu focuses on modern French techniques with seasonal ingredients, delivering plates that feel luxurious without tipping into excess. Add a well-curated wine list and an atmosphere that shines after dark, and VUE becomes an easy pick for date nights that call for a little wow factor. Book a window seat if you can, the view alone is worth lingering over dessert.

Sure, you might think you’ve tried the best omakase Singapore has to offer, but Sushi Yujo stands a good chance of becoming your new fave. Nestled in the heart of the Central Business District, Sushi Yujo is headed up by Chef Desmond Fong, formerly at Les Amis’ Sushi Jin, so he knows his stuff.

The snug 13-seater restaurant serves up a lunch set menu from $48 which is tasty and kind on the wallet, and $68 to $198 for a lunch omakase menu. With seafood flown in four times a week from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market, you can expect the freshest of ingredients.

Kaarla

Perched on the 51st of the CapitaSpring building and boasting breathtaking views of Marina Bay SandsKaarla serves up delicious Australian-Japanese dishes with a focus on ethically-sourced and farm-to-table ingredients. In fact, most of their ingredients are sourced from the 1-Arden food forest—the highest farm in the world.

At the heart of Kaarla lies its wood-fire grill where chefs work the flames in an open kitchen led by Executive Chef Lamley Chua. Highlights include the Coal Roasted Tiger Prawns which are perfectly charred with sansho pepper and native tamarind jam, and the Wood-Fire Grilled Wagyu Sliders which wedges Stanbroke wagyu patties, Kyabetsu Salad, and spicy mayonnaise between fluffy buns—perfect for sharing. For a taste of the bush, the Salt Cured & Smoked Kangaroo showcases thinly sliced cured-then-smoked roo on a bed of black barley, bush tomatoes, and dessert lime, accentuated with anchovy emulsion.

Expect to indulge in dishes like Seared Bluefin Tuna accompanied by Oscietra Caviar and Colatura Crema and Lobster Lollipops with Tarragon Aioli. The pizza selection is equally tempting, with options like Salmon Trout with Ikura, Fiordilatte, and Pizzutelli or a Truffle Fonduta with Smoked Scamorza and Cardoncelli Mushrooms. Aniba

6 Battery Road, #05-03

Aniba

Aniba is one of those places that understands fusion properly–rooted in Middle Eastern flavours, but unafraid to wander. The menu draws from Levantine and North African influences, layered with global techniques and unexpected twists that keep things playful rather than precious. It’s confident, bold cooking that rewards curiosity, whether you’re dipping in for a drink or settling in for the full experience.

That spirit comes through clearly in dishes like the TLV Tostada: a crisp Belgian waffle topped with wild Norwegian salmon ceviche, charred kale, Thai mango and a jalapeño kick that ties everything together. The space matches the food beat for beat—dark, moody and just a little seductive. Start with a cocktail and smoked trout doughnuts at the speakeasy-style bar, or move deeper into the restaurant for a veg- and fish-forward feast that’s designed for sharing, conversation and lingering long after the plates are cleared.

Firangi Superstar

20 Craig Road, #01-03

Firangi Superstar

With low lighting and four themed rooms—the Officer’s Club, Old Railway Room, Elephant Palace and Jungle Lodge—all curated to look like film sets, Firangi Superstar is more of a cinematic journey through India than a restaurant.

We recommend the Australian Wagyu bone-in rib, which is marinated in a flavourful nihari marinade and finished on a charcoal grill, resulting in a deliciously succulent interior and charred exterior. Alternatively, the vegetarian version includes three pieces of mushroom kofta, served on a creamy bed of lentils and crowned with sautéed Shimeji mushrooms.

Tamba

101 Duxton Road

Tamba

Housed in a two-storey conserved shophouse, Tamba is an intimate and lively enclave that celebrates the vibrant spirit and rich flavours of West Africa. With it's dark and moody interior, the 25-seater hideaway is the perfect spot for your next date night.

Tamba’s culinary philosophy is a homage to West African luxury, blended skillfully with the comforting essence of home. You can choose from beloved staples such as Jollof Rice with sofrito, Sakura chicken, and smoked pork belly; Tapalapa bread with goat’s milk ricotta, drizzled with house-smoked honey and smoked bacon butter. A house favourite of Head Chef Darren is Suya, a grilled skewer dish made of Angus tenderloin and accompanied by kachumbari (a piquant tomato and onion salad) and a crunchy smoked kuli kuli.

Helmed by award-winning bartender Joma Rivera as General Manager, Tamba’s cocktail menu is split into two parts. The first is inspired by stories from Tamba’s life growing up, and includes savoury tomato cocktail Dry Boney, a tamarind cachaca cocktail, The Next Pele, and a clarified milk cocktail, Vita, made with cacao butter fat-washed Mhoba rum sourced from South Africa. The second, Friends of Tamba, includes Chouti, a cognac-based tongue-in-cheek drink, and agave cocktails Smoker’s Kiss and Get A Room.

An intimate alcove that embodies Italy’s rich culinary history and pays homage to the country’s quintessential diet staple, Pasta Bar is known for its delicious hand-pulled pasta and laidback counter culture. Nestled in the heart of Keong Saik road, the restaurant is anchored around an 18-seater open kitchen bar-counter where you can watch Michelin-trained Head Chef Ales Donat work his magic.

Current menu highlights include the tableside carbonara, which is tossed tableside in a large flaming cheese wheel, and the confit duck ravioli, which showcases a little-known dough technique where cooked egg yolk is added to raw egg yolks to make an incredibly velvety and creamy pasta casing for the duck filling.
