Let’s be honest—you’d be hard pressed to find accommodation in Maleny that isn’t the epitome of cosy, but we’ve found a spot that we think takes the cake. Just eight minutes out of town, Maleny Country Estate is a gorgeous, boutique accommodation and wedding venue nestled on 185 acres of rolling hills that is well-worth battling traffic on the M1 for.
Here, seven individual guest houses—a mix of Swiss-style chalets and wooden cottages—are perched on a hillside, each one offering total privacy for up to six guests, with a studio-style stone cottage also available over by the estate’s tennis court. For those bringing the fam or a few friends however, the chalets are where it's at, each one featuring a deck overlooking the valley, a kitchen, lounge room, loft, wood-fired stove and outdoor fire pit.
If you’re lucky, Cottage One will be available for your stay—and trust us when we say you want it to be available. This signature chalet features its very own private, outdoor bathhouse, built into an old concrete water tank just outside. Overhung with vines, the dream bathing spot looks over the tranquil forest surrounding the cabins—throw in some bubble bath, pour yourself a glass of wine and sink into pure, unadulterated bliss.
The entire estate has been a labour of love for owners Michael and Victoria, along with their daughter Amanda. While they purchased the property with the cottages and chalets already existing back in 2018, each one needed almost a complete reconstruction to transform them into the luxury digs they are today, and the trio have been totally hands on in getting them up to scratch.
An estate house is still in progress, but will soon feature a swimming pool, library and lounge area available to all guests. Weddings are also on the cards, with an onsite stone chapel, indoor and outdoor reception spaces, a stunning bridal suite, groom’s party accommodations and of course, plenty of space for almost everyone on the guest list to spend the night. If you’ve got a wedding to plan, get an inquiry in quick, because this spot is going to be in high demand.
