QAGOMA’s European Masterpieces Exhibition
If you’re craving a taste of New York, here’s your fix, this exhibition has landed straight from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Live your best Gossip Girl life as you stroll through an impressive collection of European creations covering 500 years of history. You’ll enjoy works from the Renaissance period through to early twentieth-century post-impressionism. Ready to spark some creativity? Monet your way to QAGOMA, this one is on ‘till Sunday, October 17.

Brisbane Festival 2021
Our favourite art festival is set to take over the city this month. Brisbane Festival is coming in hot with the goods—a bunch of major shows, musical treats and experiential exhibitions to get your creativity flowing. Quite frankly, you’re spoilt for choice. Sunsuper Riverfire
A pretty showstopping end to Brisbane Festival, you won’t want to miss Sunsuper Riverfire this year. It’s lighting up the sky on Saturday, September 25 with a super impressive display by Foti Fireworks. You’ll also enjoy a powerful smoking ceremony by Yuggera and Turrbal man, Shannon Ruska as well as Army helicopter displays, aerobatics and more. eToro Rugby Championship | Wallabies vs South Africa & Argentina vs New Zealand
Okay, it’s not allllll about the arts. We’ve got something for you sport-lovers in here too. In what’s set to be a pretty epic standoff, with the Wallabies, All Blacks, Los Pumas and reigning world champions Springboks battle it out for the eToro Rugby Championship trophy. The Wallabies vs South Africa, and All Blacks vs Argentina take to the field on Saturday, September 18 for a highly-anticipated showdown.
Trent Dalton’s Boy Swallows Universe
Fans of the novel Boy Swallows Universe by local author Trent Dalton won’t want to miss this moving stage adaptation of the story. Expect to feel all the feels as you join 13-year-old Eli Bell on a journey of discovery, heartache and resilience. Running from Wednesday, September 1 through to Sunday, October 3, send this stellar performance to the top of your to-see list this month.
The Princess Theatre Reopening
After undergoing a careful and considered restoration, the 133-year-old Princess Theatre will fling its doors back open to the public this October. Alongside being a thing of beauty (we’re looking at you, architecture fiends) the theatre is now home to four bars, a café, private event rooms, workshop spaces and a lush courtyard. The initial housewarming is slated for early October, so pick up your tickets here.
Brickman® Wonders of the World
Calling all big kids, we’ve found the perfect weekend activity for you. Brickman® Wonders of the World is open now through to Monday, October 4 at Queensland Museum. Expect some pretty impressive displays of this tiny little brick, created by LEGO Masters Australia judge, Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught. We’re talking worldly creations like the Great Wall of China through to the Tokyo subway map and the Titanic. We’ll see you there.
City In The Sun At Museum Of Brisbane
Dive deep into the subtropical themes of Brisbane with this bright, immersive and joyful exhibition. City In The Sun explores all things vibrant, fun and summer. You’ll be greeted by brand-new works from a slew of artists that ask you to enjoy and reflect on the culture and heritage of Brisbane. It’s sure to put a smile on your face.
Country Music Weekend 2021
Grab your blue denim and throw on your cowboy boots, Country Music Weekend is back and it’s bringing all the line dancing you want. Expect a mecca of country-themed activities like bull rides, whip cracking, food trucks and outback fashion. Going down Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11, make your way to Brisbane Racing Club for the most epic race day yet.
Tastes Of Moreton Bay
This one is for all you foodies out there. Tastes of Moreton Bay is on until Sunday, October 10 and we promise you won’t want to miss it. Head north of the CBD and take your tastebuds on a flavourful escape, from devouring local produce to mouth-watering tours, events, wine tastings and masterclasses.
