The Queensland Ballet is renowned for their choreographers, designers and of course, their brilliant dancers, and after the year that was last year, they’re absolutely ready to hit the stage for a stellar 2021 season. There’s some truly magical productions on the way, but the one we’re most excited for is their beloved performance of The Sleeping Beauty, which is coming to QPAC from 4–19 June—and if you’re a ballet lover, you won’t want to miss it.
You know the story—Princess Aurora goes to sleep for 100 years, before being awakened from her slumber with a little help from Prince Charming. You may think the classical fairytale of Sleeping Beauty is all too familiar, but this performance will be anything but ordinary. The charming performance will be pulled together with a dramatic musical score from the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Renaissance-inspired costumes and elaborate stage sets, so settle in for a night of magic.
It gets better—classical ballet icon, Mary Li, will be making a special appearance in three performances as the Queen. If you want to catch her return to the stage, make sure to book the 6.30pm show on 8 June, 10 June, or 7.30pm show on 10 June.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to leave your attendance up to luck, we’re giving away five double passes to the performance on Wednesday 9 June. For your chance to win, head here.
