16 Sunshine Coast Events To Put On Your Radar In March

Mark your calendars and get ready for another jam-packed month of epic events on the Sunshine Coast. 

The month of March brings a stellar lineup, including major sporting events to Rocket Man send-offs, and backflipping bikers to bubbles and brunch. Basically, you’re bound to find an event or two to beat the heat, burst the fun bubble and bring together the friends and fam.

Here is the ultimate hit list of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast in March.  

Clean Up Australia Day

The first Sunday of the month marks Clean Up Australia Day and the Sunshine Coast has some epic events to help you do your bit to clean up our beautiful beaches and hinterland. There are currently 83 sites across the Sunshine Coast registered on the Clean Up Australia Day website, so grab your garbage bags, gloves and get down and dirty with your local community. Some local meet-up spots include Noosa Main Beach, followed by a barbecue, GoodLife Gym in Buderim and Raw Energy stores across the region.

Elton John Yellow Brick Road Tour

Boomers through to Millennials will unite to sing their lungs out with the Rocket Man himself, as Elton John mic drops his last concert on this Sunshine Coast. Selected tickets are still available to his shows on March 3 and 4 at the Sunshine Coast Stadium, making this one of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this March. The Yellow Brick Road tour, kicking off last year, has included 300 shows throughout the world with spectators calling it tearful, triumphant and flamboyant as ever.

Yoga Under The Sea

If you’re a water baby, animal lover and avid yogi (let’s be honest, most us—tick at least one of these boxes) then the event of the year is coming to you this March. Downward dog underwater (well, almost underwater) and hold warrior pose amongst the Sunshine Coast’s sea life with Yoga for Bushfire Relief at Sea Life. The two have teamed up to run a 60-minute Vinyasa class, which will be taking place on Sea Life’s penguin viewing platform, making this event the closest thing you can get to a real-life Happy Feet experience.
When: Wednesday 4 March, meet outside Sea Life at 4.15pm

The Wonder Women Series 004

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, the Wonder Women Series will be hosting an evening of inspirational conversation with Dee Jenner (stylist, former style editor of Elle Australia), Sophia Laryea (international dancer and model) and Emilia Spencer-Brown (owner and floral artist of Bloodwood Botanica. Held in the gorgeous CLO Studios Laneway, your ticket includes a complimentary arrival drink, nibbles by Vanilla Food, networking opportunities and a whole lot of inspiring chats. 
When: Thursday 5 March, 6pm to 9.30pm

Pottery Workshop

One of the coolest creative spaces on the Sunshine Coast, Syndicate Creative, is keeping our creative juices alive with their Create What You Want pottery workshop. Head along on March 6 and they will sort you out with all your clay and glazing needs—the rest is up to you. The full workshop includes two sessions; the first for creating and the second for glazing the stunning creations.

Blues And Brews

Clear your Saturday night and get to Eumundi for a night of Blues and Brews. With an epic lineup descending on the Imperial Hotel—think Mason Rack Band, Marshall & The Fro, Palomino III and more—you can expect awesome live tunes and lip-smacking craft beer to get your toes tapping.

Mooloolaba Swim Festival

Lather up the sunscreen and slip on the swimsuit, because March brings on one of our favourite Sunshine Coast sporting events to our shores—the Mooloolaba Swim Festival. The annual event, held at Mooloolaba Beach, spans a jam-packed weekend filled with swim clinics, competitions, and just some good old family beach fun. Races will be running all weekend long, including the Junior Giants 300m Dash for the kids and the one that we keep our eyes peeled for every year…who will take out the much-loved Mooloolaba Mile?

Jack Botts At Solbar

Jack Botts is set to soothe your Saturday night, bringing his surf soul sound to the Sunshine Coast, live at Solbar. If you haven’t heard Jack’s music, we highly recommend you check out his latest EP on Spotify, including our fave tracks ‘Northern Rivers’ and ‘Summer Nights’. Jack has also been announced to be joining the epic line-up at the Big Pineapple Music Festival.

International Women’s Day Brunch And Bubbly Cruise

International Women’s Day is popping up on March 8 and what better way to celebrate you and the special ladies in your life than with a brunch on the water. Throw on your favourite dress, grab your gals and immerse yourself in mimosas and a delicious feast, all while listening to live acoustic tunes as you cruise down the Mooloolah River. The event will also be raising money for the women’s rights and empowerment movement.

Hinterland Farm To Fork Experience

The ultimate Sunshine Coast foodie experience belongs to the Hinterland Farm To Fork Experience, which still has spots available this March. The farm to fork tour will take you behind the scenes with local producers to view the whole process of what it truly takes to make some of the region’s most decadent local produce (and taste it all of course). The day includes visiting wagyu farmers, seasonal produce farmers, local coffee roasters and the Brouhaha Brewery kitchen. Mooloolaba Triathlon

If a triathlon is one of those things sitting on your bucket list waiting to be ticked, then this Sunshine Coast event is your call to action. The annual Mooloolaba Triathlon hits the Coast this March, so grab your fittest pals together (or go it alone) and take part in the action. For those of us who’d rather sip a flat white on the sidelines, head to Mooloolaba Beach and get your cheer on.

Heavenly Graze's First Soiree

For a night of epic platter proportions, head down to White Picket Fence in Caloundra to celebrate Heavenly Graze's first birthday. If you haven't experienced Heavenly Graze’s luxe grazing tables yet, then this is your chance. Ocean Film Festival World Tour

The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is making its way to the Sunshine Coast this March. Hitting The J Noosa over two days, you’ll be able to catch three hours of the world’s best short films showcasing our magnificent oceans and uber-talented oceanographers, swimmers, surfers and divers from all over the world. The film festival is tackling all topics and issues surrounding the current state of our ocean and promises to be thought-provoking, inspiring, touching and very insightful.

Runway Fashion Australia Show

Fashion’s night of nights is happening on the Sunshine Coast this March. Runway Fashion Australia will be showcasing all of our uber-talented local fashion designers' pieces, alongside some of Australia's top emerging designers and recycled labels. Bring along your most stylish friends and soak up a night of style, design, cocktails and canapes.

Brouhaha Brewer’s Bento Masterclass 

If you’re looking for ways to upskill in your social life, then Brouhaha Brewer’s Bento Masterclass could be one of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this month. Over two hours and through three courses, you will learn the guidelines for pairing the perfect beer and food combo, using Brouhaha beers and bite-size treats from our local suppliers. Nitro Circus Live 

Thrill-seekers and daredevils can get their kicks watching the best of the best on bikes, boards and whatever Aussie's best stunt crew can backflip mid-air and land on two feet. The boys of Nitro Circus are taking over the Sunshine Coast Stadium this March, so grab your mates and get amongst the action. And just remember, don’t try this one at home.
