Things To Do

Here’s The Free Events To Explore At World Science Festival This Weekend

By

Feeling overwhelmed with awe for the world around us has got to be one of the most grounding, connecting moments we humans can experience. Whether you catch us pondering our existence with an impossibly scenic view or gazing at a meal so good it will revisit us in our dreams for years to come, we’re addicted to the feeling. Something about it keeps us seeking out the wonder and curiosity in our everyday lives.

So, you can imagine how excited we were to learn that this year—their 10th birthday, no less—World Science Festival Brisbane (WSFB) is putting on an insane lineup of events, workshops, and activations that centre around capturing that very feeling. Allow us to introduce you to INFINITE AWE.

Arena Atomica

Skateboard trick

Skaters fearlessly plunging off the edge of the bowl or landing a flip is a surefire way to leave us in awe. If you’ve ever been beguiled by the ‘how’ of it all, WSFB’s Arena Atomica is the event for you.

Grab tickets now to learn the mechanics from the Australian Skateboarding Federation and their A-team of skaters. But don’t worry, this isn’t a science lecture, it’s an adrenaline-packed show with endless moments that defy gravity. And it’s perfect for adults and kids alike.

Sinclair is the author of the bestselling book Why We Age and Why We Don’t Have To and a leading genetics researcher at Harvard Medical School so he knows what he’s talking about.

Leigh Sales AM And Annabelle Crab: An Afternoon Of Science

Book tickets before you get to the end of the paragraph because when Leigh and Annabelle are in town they sell out. If you missed out last year, don’t worry we won’t tell anyone you didn’t finish the article and hit the ticket link immediately.

Everyone’s favourite duo is back to celebrate the pure joy that comes with scientific discovery. But they aren’t alone, they’ll share the stage with a motley ensemble of local and international scientists to make science more fun than we ever could have imagined.
