If you needed any more proof that the Sunshine Coast craft brewery scene is one of the best in Australia, this is it. Matso’s, the creator of Australia’s first alcoholic ginger beer, has opened their second Australian location in Eumundi and it’s seriously epic.
The iconic Joe’s Waterhole pub in Eumundi has been reborn as Matso’s Sunshine Coast, sporting a stunning new look and breathing new life into the much-loved Sunshine Coast establishment. The sprawling venue pays homage to the venue's Queensland heritage and showcases plenty of the original features of Joe’s Waterhole.
Matso’s Sunshine Coast boasts multiple bars, a relaxed restaurant, beer garden, pool room, and even a Matso’s playground just for the little ones. We also love that it’s dog friendly, so no one needs to miss out.
The entire range of Matso’s beers is brewed fresh on-site, from originals, including the much-loved Matso’s Ginger Beer and Matso’s Mango Beer, to limited-release and seasonal brews. We can guarantee there will be a brew on the menu that you love—and your beverage will taste even better when paired with bites from Matso's locally-sourced menu.
Start small with tastebud teasers like lobster rolls and kingfish sashimi, before moving onto larger plates like the loaded pizzas, burgers, fish and chips and steak. Of course, you have to finish strong with dessert—we recommend the yuzu cheesecake.
Matso’s Brewery spokesperson Mick McKeown expressed his excitement about the vibrant new venue in Eumundi.
“We’ll be brewing our famous ginger and mango beers right here onsite supplying not only the locals but the whole of Queensland. We’re also in the process of installing a distillery to expand our portfolio into spirits and ready-to-drink beverages.
“With Matso's Sunshine Coast, we're bringing that vision to life with a blend of tradition and innovation, a bit of quirkiness, and a whole lot of fun," he said.
In case you weren’t already convinced, Matso’s has plans for regular live music events and an onsite brewery serving fresh, locally brewed beers and cocktails. Consider this your sign to sink a few cold ones at Matso’s Sunshine Coast this summer.
