Noosa’s dining scene just got a whole lot tastier with the arrival of Misschu, an Asian street food tuckshop that has already stolen hearts (and appetites) in Melbourne.
Now open on Hastings Street, this much-loved venue is bringing its signature blend of fresh, fast, and healthy eats to the Sunshine Coast, and we are here for it.
Founded in 2009 in Sydney by Nahji Chu, a Vietnamese-Laotian refugee, MISSCHU quickly earned a cult following and a daily queue up Bourke Street in Darlinghurst. Darlinghurst. Sixteen years later, MISSCHU has multiple locations in Melbourne and owners Gabi and Heike Machado are expanding their Melbourne-based empire north—and Noosa is the lucky first stop.
Menu stars included the likes of a warm vermicelli salad with lemongrass beef, fluffy fried chicken bao buns, and juicy Shanghai pork dumplings. Everything’s made with unrefined palm sugar, coconut oil and olive oil, so it’s not just packed with flavour, it’s also feel-good food you’ll want to eat on repeat. Most of the menu clocks in under $20, with a solid line-up of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options.
The bright, breezy space on Hastings Street fits up to 85 diners and flows effortlessly out to three outdoor terraces which are prime for post-swim bites or laid-back date nights.
Grab a cocktail at the central timber bar and watch the dumpling steamers in action, or swing by for a quick takeaway that doesn’t skimp on flavour.
