Nestled in the beating heart of Maroochydore, Pataka is a game-changing new Fijian-Indian restaurant with a focus on wood-fired, plant-based cuisine, natural biodynamic wines and creatively curated cocktails. So yes, it's pretty damn unique.
At Pataka, the culinary focus centres on sourcing local produce and incorporating native Australian ingredients, emphasising traditional Fijian-Indian cooking methods such as open-fire preparation to elevate and intensify flavours. The kitchen is headed up by Kunal Mani, who has trained under Alejandro Cancino (formerly of three-hatted Urbane in Brisbane), so he certainly has earned his stripes.
Pataka—which translates to ‘fireworks’ in Hindi’—stands out from the crowd of Indian restaurants with its plant-based contemporary menu, complemented by a selection of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines, showcasing the small team’s genuine passion for food, culture, and authentic hospitality.
The menu predominantly features shareable plates, catering to discerning diners in search of a unique gastronomic experience. From smoked eggplant with flatbread to wood-fired cauliflower with smoked macadamia romesco and cassava cake with smoked bush honey, Pataka will delight plant-based patrons and meat eaters alike.
Beyond the main dining area, Pataka Lounge offers an intimate and moody Tiki-style cocktail bar, where mixologists skillfully craft cocktails infused with native and tropical elements. They take pride in curating the best offerings from Australian distilleries, breweries, and wineries.
With a bar-snack menu, the ambiance of RnB beats, attentive service, and an impressive local drink selection, Pataka Lounge guarantees a fireworks experience for all who visit.
