If you love tacos and you like Margaritas, then you’re going to absolutely froth over Sydney’s brand new taco “truck” concept.
Brought to you by the legendary crew behind La Farmacia, Darlinghurst’s hidden mezcal and tequila spot heroing authentic Guadalajara-style cuisine, as well as about 20 variations of the humble margarita—the first thing you need to know about this taco truck is that it isn’t actually a truck. Seeing as we’re in lockdown though, we’re going to let it slide.
While this after-dark spot is usually tucked behind Mrs Palmer on Stanley Street, given Sydney’s current stay-at-home circumstances, the crew is bringing real Mexican tacos and margaritas out onto the street.
Enter La Farmacia’s Covid Taco Truck, nope not a real truck but a new lockdown concept that will see Guadalajara taco truck-style tacos, snacks, and margaritas served from Mrs Palmer’s front counter every night of the week from 6pm to 9pm.
Now, what’s on the menu, we hear you ask? Think beef brisket tacos in a spicy chipotle sauce with charred onion, super crispy pork belly, marinated pork shoulder tacos in an Al Pastor marinade with roasted pineapple, and even tacos filled with grilled spicy chorizo and fried potatoes. For the vegan aficionados, there are also baked jackfruit tacos with onion, garlic, oregano, guajillo, and ancho chillies. You can land tacos for $5 a pop or five tacos for $22.
As well as this, the front counter will be churning out warm corn chips and salsa, ceviche tostada with avo salsa, and char-grilled corn on the cob with chipotle mayo, pecorino cheese, and Tajine. To knock your gigantic taco feast back, order up a classic, Tommy or spicy jalapeno margarita or you know—all three (wink, wink).
