If you’ve ever spent a Saturday wandering around Rose Bay Marina, chances are you’ve stopped here for a coffee, perched up with a wrap of crispy fish and chips after a lap of Lyne Park or settled into a long lunch overlooking moored boats.

Following the closure of The Boathouse earlier this year, the coveted waterfront site has a new tenant, with SRG Hospitality opening Ripples Rose Bay.

The venue marks the latest addition to the group’s growing waterfront collection, which includes Ripples Milsons Point, Ripples Chowder Bay, North Sydney's Aqua Dining and Ormeggio At The Spit. For anyone who’s dined at Ripples Milsons Point or Chowder Bay, you’ll know the brief: relaxed, produce-driven food that really lets the harbour do most of the heavy lifting.

On the kitchen side of things, you have a team led by former Sella Vinoteca and Bondi staple A Tavola, chef Marco Masotti, with a menu that is firm on keeping everything classic. Sydney rock oysters, Aussie prawns, locally-sourced whole fish, fish and chips, and slow-roasted lamb shoulder round out the menu here—all perfect for sharing. There’s also a broad drinks menu that’ll keep anyone chuffed, from serious local wine buffs to those whose entire personality may or may not be defined by the humble Espresso Martini (sporting a somewhat delightful coconut twist).

Better still, Ripples is BYO. And while we intentionally steer well clear of overused phrases like “fire up the group chat”, this might just be the rare occasion where it’s actually warranted.

The fitout is very much in-line with the Ripples portfolio, you’ve got timbers, bamboo detailing and a whole swarth of natural material framing the harbour. Every table in the dining room looks onto the water, while a 25-seat private dining room spills out on its very own balcony overlooking the marina. As creative director Perry Drakopoulos puts it, the venue was designed to pass the “barefoot test”, somewhere you can wander into straight from the harbour for breakfast, lunch or dinner and never feel out of place.

Downstairs, an all-day kiosk will keep crowds fuelled with coffee, takeaway and lighter bites, while the restaurant itself will trade from breakfast through to dinner.

You'll find Ripples Rose Bay at 594 New South Head Road, Rose Bay.
