Here’s how to make The Winery’s spiced up mulled wine at home.
Ingredients For Mulled Wine
- 1 x bottle of red wine
- 120ml Drambuie
- 60ml honey
- Peel of one whole grapefruit
- Peel of one whole orange
- 2 x peppermint tea bags
- 2 x tablespoons of grated ginger
- 1/2 tablespoon of juniper berries
- 1/2 tablespoon of allspice berries
- 1/2 tablespoon whole peppercorn
- 1 x cinnamon stick
Method For Making Mulled Wine
Step 1
Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan and give them a little stir.
Step 2
Heat the pan until the wine almost simmers over medium-high heat. No bubbles! Do not let it boil the alcohol off.
Step 3
Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the wine simmer for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4
Strain the mulled wine using a fine mesh strainer then give it a taste. Add the sweetener until you get your desired taste.
Step 5
Serve warm in your favourite mug and add your garnishes.
