Construction for the striking new W Sydney Hotel might have taken a little longer than planned, but the huge hotel, which is officially the largest W Hotel in the world, has finally opened its doors in Sydney today.

The stunning wave-shaped "Ribbon" building, designed by Hassell architects, beams over Darling Harbour and the Western Distributor freeway and its spectacular glass curves have become a jewel in the Sydney city skyline.

Inside, W Sydney features 588 rooms, a two-storey rooftop bar, an infinity pool overlooking the harbour, a signature W Hotel AWAY Spa, a restaurant, a lounge bar, and event spaces.

Ultra-luxe rooms and suites have been designed so that no two are the same, and the interior palette, crafted by London-based Bowler James Brindley, features bold azure blues and bright turquoise to reflect the ocean environment of the surrounding harbour waters.

As well as its luxe suites and fancy five-star amenities, W Sydney is locked to become a bit of a dining destination with mega restaurant "BTWN" (an abbreviation of "between") as the centrepiece. Here, head chef Chris Dodd (ex-Aria, The Blue Door, and Bistrot Plume) will be doing locally sourced, sustainably-minded dishes.

BTWN also features a late-night dessert bar headed up by Singaporean dessert queen Janice Wong. Called "2am Dessert Bar" the whimsical spot will be open for dinner until the wee hours, serving spectacular sweets alongside custom cocktails and local wines. Round out your experience with a visit to W Sydney's incredible rooftop bar, 29/30

“W Sydney reimagines luxury for a new era, creating a vibrant new scene for Sydneysiders and visitors to the city,” says Craig Seaward, General Manager of W Sydney.

“It’s a complete departure from the city’s traditional hotels and this unique W spirit is something you feel at every touchpoint, from our eclectic venues to the cool blue rooms and high-energy programming. I can’t think of a better location for our new W hotel than Sydney’s amazing harbour. We can’t wait to welcome guests again and again.”
