The Verdict

If you’re after guaranteed good times, you neeeeed to make your way to Cargo ASAP. After a total facelift and a brand-spankin' new look, your fave waterside venue is now all about 1980s NYC vibes and is obvs where the party is at this summer.

Boasting killer cocktails and plenty of pitchers so no one goes home thirsty (our pick is the Cargopolitan, aka a classic cosmo, the Cargo way), it’s the kind of place you want to seat yourself on a balmy afternoon and stay allllll night. Treat yourself like a king and book a spot on the VIP balcony (along with a magnum or two of champagne, obvs) or nab a seat overlooking the water and take it easy.

With a menu full of street-style eats, such as crispy fried chicken ribs with jalapeno mayo, pulled pork sliders and mini hot dogs, you can order one of everything and share with your whole crew. If you’re feeling hangry, the only thing you need to order is the deep pan pizza, which you obvs shouldn’t share because it’s just too damn delish.

The meat lover is jam-packed with onion, prosciutto, salami, sausage and cheese and the chorizo remains simple with tomato, cheese, ham, capsicum, chilli but our fave is the fungi. Covered in white sauce with mushroom, cheese, spinach and truffle oil, it is worth every calorie. Trust us.

Whether you want eats, drinks, dancing or a little bit of everything, Cargo is never a bad idea. With DJs spinning beats every Friday and Saturday, it’s the perfect place for birthday celebrations or cocktails with the crew.
