Osteria Mucca

Opening in early 2025, Osteria Mucca will be an old-school Italian restaurant in the Australia Street precinct by Paisano & Daughters (who are behind Continental Deli, and launching two more restaurants plus boutique accommodation in their historic row of Newtown shops).

Set in a former butcher shop—with many original features including tiling and small aesthetic imperfections retained—the 50-seat restaurant will serves classic Italian dishes, sharing regional classics and family recipes.

While the head chef is yet to be announced, their menu will sit alongside sweets by the group’s new head of pastry, acclaimed pastry chef Lauren Eldridge. On the drinks front, Osteria Mucca will offer wines from small producers, plus aperitivo and digestivo-style cocktails.

Osteria Mucca will open for dinner seven nights, and lunch on weekends. It will neighbour Continental Deli plus all-day vegetarian venue Flora, seafood restaurant Mister Grotto, and boutique short-term accommodation Australia Street Suites.
