It's already been a huge 18 months for Mucho Group—and they're showing no signs of slowing down. Fresh off the opening of their CBD basement martini bar, Bar Bridge, the hospitality collective is preparing to unveil another concept: a Margarita-focused venue set to take over Enmore Road.

"We've wanted to open a Margarita bar in the Inner West since before Bar Planet, we've just been very patient," Mucho Group CEO, Daisy Tulley, tells Urban List.

"The mission is to open the most delicious and joyful Margarita bar in the Inner West."

At first glance, Super 44 is impossible to miss. Its deep orange façade channels the warmth of a traditional Mexican cantina, albeit through a psychedelic lens that feels right at home alongside sister venue Bar Planet, which landed on this stretch of Newtown nearly four years ago. But while Bar Planet evokes an intergalactic time warp, Super 44 trades outer space for sun-baked desert landscapes, dusty highways and a distinctly different kind of escapism.

Like many of Enmore Road's longest-standing shopfronts, the building has worn plenty of hats over the years—serving as a bar, a hairdresser, a café and, back in the '90s, a fish and chip shop.

"I've heard lots of history about the building since taking the space, and it's amazing to be part of the next slice of Enmore Road history," Tulley says.

Swing open the front doors and you'll find black-and-white tiled floors, hand-painted signwriting, and a collection of framed artwork, vintage magazines and objects collected during Mucho's annual trips to Mexico. The interiors draw equally from traditional Mexican cantinas and European tabernas, while a soundtrack inspired by long desert road trips completes the picture. As with every Mucho venue, every tiny detail feels intentional.

"We wanted Super 44 to feel like the neighbourhood drinking spots in Mexico or Spain, lived-in and full of character," Tulley says.

"You'll feel like you've stumbled upon a bar that's been serving Margaritas for a century."

Despite the bold aesthetic, Super 44 is far from another gimmicky themed bar. Tulley and Creative Director Jeremy Blackmore know a thing or two about Margaritas—the duo are also behind CBD mezcal favourite Cantina OK!, which has frequented the World's 50 Best Bars list for nearly a decade. That naturally raises the question: how does a group with several concept-driven venues keep each one feeling genuinely distinct? With Super 44, they may have found their most compelling answer yet.

The biggest difference, in our opinion, is that the rulebook has been thrown out the window. Signature cocktails include the Super, made with house-made grapefruit and yuzu liqueur before being topped with finger lime pearls. Then there's the paddle-pop-esque Santo, pairing fresh apple with melon crème in a drink the team likens to melted pastel ice cream.

If you hadn't guessed already, the ethos here is unexpected flavours, textures and colours—a far cry from the traditionalism many Margarita devotees swear by. Of course, the classics haven't been forgotten. Every drink is built around one of four signature styles—classic, spicy, frozen or sparkling—made with fresh lime juice squeezed to order and hand-shaved ice.

Some of the more adventurous creations include Sunstroke, where carrot, passionfruit and shiso channel what the team describes as the world's best Fanta, while the Shark Fin combines yuzu kosho and tobiko for a spicy margarita with an unexpectedly savoury edge. But if we're being honest, it's the breakfast smoothie-inspired Bondi, blended with banana, cinnamon and cashew, that's got our attention.

As with every Mucho venue, there'll also be a rotating monthly special showcasing seasonal fruit. Kicking things off is a creamy, sake-spiked coconut spin, served alongside the group's signature complimentary popcorn inspired by Tajín and lime corn chips.

Whether you're a Mucho loyalist, a Margarita enthusiast or simply searching for your next Enmore Road bar crawl stop, Super 44 makes a compelling case for a visit. Drop by during the first hour of service for $13 Super Margs and $7 Tecate lagers, then settle in to see just how far a Margarita can be pushed.
