These Waterfront Bars Need To Be On Your 2024 Hit List

By Isabella Jeffrey

The weather is sweltering this summer, so we're spending our days no more than twenty minutes from a body of water at all times. Luckily for us South East Coast dwellers, we have two refreshed beachside watering holes to visit, so you can go from sea-salty to sipping spicy mango margaritas in no time.

Cotton Tree Beach Bar and Kings Beach Bar have brought out all the stops for summer—including a new drinks list featuring cocktails infused with the freshest local fruit and elevated menus offered from sunrise to sunset. Mirroring the idyllic Caloundra and Maroochydore destinations they are situated in, these cruisy beachside bars are light, airy and coastal cool.

Dine From Sunrise To Sunset

Open from as early as 6am and as late as 9pm,  at Cotton Tree Beach Bar and Kings Beach Bar you can catch the sunrise swell along the coast before tucking into their brekkie okonomiyaki with bacon, tonkatsu sauce, japanese mayo, egg, pickled chilli and spring onion. Or walk along the Esplanade and tuck into a late lunches of sky-high burgers, hearty bowls of confit pork belly bowl and share plates of honey baked brie. Enjoying a low alcohol summer? Wash it down with a passion, mango and coconut daiquiri or loaded jungle smoothie with acai, berries, passionfruit, pineapple, chia seeds and coconut water.

Hit Happy Hour Every Day

Plus, if you’re like us and can’t deny yourself a happy hour treat, both venues offer a range of themed nights from 5pm with discounted meals and drinks—hello, $15 margarita Mondays. With opening hours from brekkie to dinner, you can go between ocean dips and seasonal smoothies all day long.

For brekkies, long lunches that roll into sunset drinks and mid-week dinners, spend your summer at Cotton Tree Beach Bar and Kings Beach Bar.
