InterContinental Hayman Island

It’s the celebrity-loved hangout in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef with some seriously luxe accommodation overlooking the Coral Sea. The InterContinental Hayman Island has long been Australia’s most exclusive private resort, and what better time to visit than during it's 75th birthday celebrations? Hello, sunset margaritas and spa treatments.

So what exactly makes the InterContinental Hayman Island resort so special?

For starters, it combines lush rooms with a whole heap of extras the family will enjoy. You’re right on the beach with its soft sand and palm trees, and yet there’s one of Australia’s largest swimming pools, offering both saltwater and freshwater, just steps away in which to while away the day.

There’s a spa to die for, with treatment rooms, a couple’s room, sauna and steam facilities; plus you get access to the fitness centre and free breakfast during your stay. Throw in a kids club, five on-site restaurants and complimentary activities like paddleboarding, kayaking and beach games, and you’ll struggle to find the time to fit it all in.

There’s a variety of accommodation options to suit every taste here—each coming with the essentials like a coffee maker, hair dryer, TV, Wi-fi, air con and a workspace in case the inbox starts overflowing.

Book into a Classic Room and you may get a King or Super King bed, a single sofa bed, a balcony with a courtyard view, a bath and walk-in shower and an outdoor shower. Splash out on a four-bedroom Hayman Residence and your pad might include a balcony with an ocean view, an outdoor living area, a day bed and your own private pool.

The best bit? You don’t even need a passport to experience this tropical paradise. You can reach the Hayman Island resort via a luxury launch transfer from Hamilton Island Airport. Transfers cost $190 return for adults and $100 return for children aged five to 11. Transfers are free for children ages four and under.
