New Opening: Bacio

A charming new cafe has just opened its doors on Jervois Road and we couldn’t be more excited.

Say hello to Bacio (pronounced like nacho, with a b) the new kid on the block taking Ponsonby by storm. With a simple, hip fit-out, you need only follow the sweet sweet scent of freshly baked goods and mouth-watering sweet treats. A step inside will see you faced with a full table decked out with baked goods. From loaves and slices to brownies and even kisses you’ll find yourself quickly making a beeline for the deliciousness.

Brought to us by foodie extraordinaire Logan Harris, the legend has worked tirelessly to craft an epic menu and offering that’s gaining fans, fast.

“We’re a bit old-school with a lot of our cabinet food and baking,” says Logan. “We have a bit of a rustic, homemade vibe with a focus on classics done right.”

The Italian term for ‘kiss’, it’s hard to not fall in love at first bite with Bacio's scrumptious goodies.

The front-of-house cabinet features an offering of interchanging salads, roast ham, and epic club sandwiches. From pies and pastries to quite possibly some of the best scones in town, it’s no wonder Bacio already has a number of dedicated regulars.

That being said, the full menu is not one to miss. Our top pick is the scrumptious fried chicken burger. Just think, two perfectly steamed buns encasing golden succulent crunchy fried chicken, topped with a fresh pineapple salsa and drizzled with chipotle aioli you won’t be able to stop at just one bite. Served alongside fries and pickled onion, we’re picking this gem as a crowd favourite.

If you’re craving something a little sweet, look no further than the grilled banana bread. House-made and served with bacon, maple, mascarpone and raspberry this creation kicks your average pancake to the curb.

For those feelin’ clean and green, the grilled halloumi and dukkah salad are for you—it's a scrumptious bowl with mushrooms, broccolini and poached egg.

Bacon lovers, this one's for you. Atop a moreish potato hash, alongside leafy greens, slow roasted tomato and poached eggs you’ll find a thick cut rasher of bacon you can really sink your teeth into.

Roasting only Supreme coffee, this gem is sure to be your one-stop spot while on the go. Of course…what’s a morning coffee without a sweet little something? Grab a box and head to the treats table and load her up with goodies. You won’t regret it.

After a brunch at Bacio, not only will the squad be singing your praises but you’ll all leave simply wondering what you did without it!
