Heads up: there’s a new beer garden—or should we say biergarten—in town! It’s been ten years since Auckland’s much-loved brewery slash restaurant Hallertau poured their first beersie and, to celebrate, they’ve opened a new biergarten—now that’s what we call a birthday party!
Located in Riverhead, Hallertau’s biergarten is nestled amongst West Auckland’s rolling farmland—not that you would know though! The biergarten resembles a subtropical oasis surrounded by palm trees and with a handy-andy retractable canopy so you can enjoy freshly poured bevvies rain, hail or shine.
All that drinking is bound to make you hungry and, thankfully, Hallertau have your back. The outdoor space boasts a new kitchen starring a wood-fire pizza oven and a smoky chargrill.
Chef Michael Van de Elzen has whipped up a mouth-watering menu that features juicy clams cooked over charcoal embers, pulled lamb shoulder flavoured with chillies and—of course—steaming pizzas oozing with mozzarella cheese.
The biergarten extension means Hallertau can now comfortably fit 250 guests, making it the perfect spot to pass the day away with your squad. If you’ve got kids in your squad, they’re also well looked after. The popular kids’ playground remains at one end of the venue with the addition of a climbing wall and outdoor games such as connect four.
Hallertau is also all about live music with an event’s calendar packed with weekend entertainment sure to get your toes tapping and your head nodding. Cold brews, great food and live tunes. What more could one want?
