Oaken is the name. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is the game. And from today onwards, this inner-city eatery is open for business—serving top-notch food, drink and good times from 7am ‘til late.
If you’re anything like us, you’ve been on the hunt for a triple-whammy spot to get your morning brekky, a speedy yet scrumptious midday meal and evening Chards. We basically want to be able to drop in and shovel down delicious food at any time of the day. Not the biggest of asks, right? This is where Oaken is going to come in handy.
On the breakfast front, Oaken takes the humble egg and transforms it into 10 (yep, 10) imaginative egg dishes—the stars of the morning menu. Where most restaurants are chained to one coffee brand, Oaken is an espresso free-house, so you’ll be able to slurp your way through three Kiwi faves: Eighthirty, Allpress and Peoples.
Taking over the reigns from 12pm are the lunch dishes, all designed to go down a treat without having to hustle back to the office with just moments to spare. We’re talking a toasted jaffle stuffed with wild venison, smoked mozz and orange or a tender chargrilled rump.
Once the sun begins to set, the flawless, handpicked wine list takes centre stage as Oaken morphs into a wine bar. Featuring both local standouts and internationally acclaimed tipples, the bar staff are on hand to walk you through the vinos, craft beers and cocktails. To accompany these fine drops, Executive Chef Javier Carmona has created 12 mouth-watering small plates, made from carefully source produce. Wine and food pairing? Sounds like a bit of us.
And to top it all off? Nothing on the morning, midday or evening menus are priced above $20—an absolute steal for a stellar dining experience in the city. Oaken, we think we’re going to be very, very good friends.
