We’re no meteorologists, and we’re assuming you aren’t either, BUT we all know the ol’ Kiwi Summer seems to be making a fashionably late appearance this year. No need to fret, however—new opening Pt Chev Beach Cafe is confident it will soon arrive, and they’ll be ready and waiting.
Equipped with a view of the ocean, a beautiful open dining room with retractable sliding doors, and a dedicated ice cream parlour, this new opening is any beach bunny’s (pre or post beach) dream.
Fuel up with one of their ‘shakti’ bowls that’s laden with toasted coconut, melon, banana, berries and housemade ‘super food’ clusters. Eggs bene here features on a beautifully crisp potato rosti. The salmon version is a stand-out with its accompanying wasabi cream cheese, citrus cured salmon and charred broccolini.
The buttermilk fried chicken burger can come with or without bacon and is paired with fresh thyme, onion rings, swiss cheese, rocket and a subtle drizzle of honey. Or, if you’re in need of an iron uptake try their ploughman’s steak sandwich which features housemade sour cream and onion crisps.
If you have a little one if tow they’ll be suitable happy her—the ‘lunch box’ features a mini hot dog or mini chicken burger and fries, seasonal fruit, mini cookie and ice cream.
Speaking of ice cream, say no more. Pt Chev Beach Cafe have enlisted the help of Kapiti Ice Cream and they’re serving up cones or cups to the masses from the attached shipping container that lines their courtyard. They also make a decent brew and the baristas are pros at turning your latte into art. Failing that, you’ll no doubt find a fresh smoothie or juice that’s sure you to quench your thirst.
Regardless of whether it’s a blazen day or just an average forecast, this new opening is sure to please. Friendly service, a sleek fit-out and impeccable offerings, next time one of your buddies asks “what beach shall we go to?” make sure you answer, “Pt Chev” and take that necessary pit stop to the suburb’s newest cafe.
