Anyone who's ever been swayed to the light side by the promise of Scandi-inspired soft golden tresses knows that hair colourists are not created equal. Finding the right hairdresser for your ideal shade of blonde is often a matter of trial and error. And trial and error is not great when the error ends up on top of your face.
We've all stumbled out of a hair salon looking more Courtney Love than Carolyn Bessette and vowed never to return. But some of us have been lucky enough to shimmy out of the salon looking like Sienna Miller, or even she of the holy blonde hair grail, Blake Lively.
Because we know that more heads are better than one, we asked you, our loyal, well-groomed readers, who does a great head of light locks. Here are your suggestions for Brisbane's best blonde colourists.
Revolution Hair Dressing
Revolution is a badly kept secret in The Urban List office, because a salon that offers seriously exponential quality hairdressing for (gasp) reasonable prices was never going to stay small for long. Andre and his team know there's a big difference between beachy and bleachy.
Papas + Pace
Ok, so we're a bit nutty about Papas + Pace. But we think you really can't go past this CBD salon when you're looking for great colour. Their colourist Demi can transform you from dull to 'Damn, girl' in a matter of hours.
The team at Teneriffe's Jagged Hair, known as 'Jagged Artists' think that summer is all about lightening and brightening up, and we couldn't agree more. Housed in a warehouse-style space on Macquarie Street, this salon has a laid-back feel, but they are dead serious about getting your colour exactly as you like it.
Offering a highly personalised colouring experience, Bouche Boutique take the time to determine the most flattering shade for you. They also offer a styling in-house service — that's how dedicated they are to helping you look like a total fox.
Monique at Abuzz in Annerley is an Urban List staffer's personal pick for Brisbane's best blonde doctor. An ombre wizard, she'll get you dipped dyed and looking fly.
[Editor's Note: Monique is no longer at Abuzz Hair.]
A boutique salon with a totally talented team, Hamilton's Evocative Hair were one of your favourite's.
York Hair Artistry
Evie at York has second-to-none attention to detail, and a deft hand with a colour brush. York use ammonia free products to keep your hair as healthy as the rest of you.
Albert Street's Hare's Hair are not only total styling gurus (they specialise in weddings and formal events), but they'll also take you lighter with no trouble at all.
You guys only had good things to say about the team at Omnific. Using organic and naturally based products, Omnific Hair in East Brisbane will treat your tresses, not stress and fry them.
Belynda from Lamb Hair will take your tresses in her capable hands and turn them into pure gold (or ash, or platinum, or whatever you fancy). Tucked into a Milton suburban street, Lamb has a legion of loyal clients who have already discovered this suburban treasure.
