Does getting excited about a new supermarket mean we’re crossing the line into middle age life? If so, we don’t even care, because when there’s a self-serve doggy treat bar to treat our pooch to, we’re in.
Queensland’s very first Coles Local has finally arrived, a new format for the supermarket giant that has been rolling out across NSW and Victoria over the past year or so. Landing in Ascot, right on Racecourse Road, the new store is a little smaller than your usual supermarket, and offers a more tailored selection of products, as well as a heap of local suppliers.
Inside, you’ll find gourmet cakes and pastries from Jocelyn’s Provisions, meats from Meat at Billy’s, freshly baked breads from King Street Bakery and ready-made meals from St. Food Co. What we’re really heading in for though, is the self-serve doggy treat bar, featuring a selection of dog treats to treat your four-legged friend too, and the pick ‘n’ mix mochi and macaron bar, filled with mochi balls, macarons and even mini gelato cones in a multitude of flavours.
Oh, and you might be pleased to know that the store has a big focus on sustainability, with free recycled carry boxes at the checkout, a dedicated eco-friendly product section, energy-efficient fridges, trolley baskets made from recycled materials, and even team uniforms made from 65 percent recycled bottles. How good!
Tell your pup it’s treat day and check it out—you’ll find the store on Racecourse Road in Ascot, open seven days a week.
If it's cheese you're shopping for, check out this new supermarket with a whole chees alley.
