We don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Brisbane loves gin. There’s not much that gets a Brissie local more excited than the chance to drink gin and celebrate drinking said gin among others who love the spirit as much as they do.

Luckily, there is one annual gin festival that we can always rely on to introduce us to all the best gins of the year, and that is of course Covent Garden’s Ginuary and their iconic Hottest 100 countdown of Aussie gins. And for the 2022 edition of Ginuary, the bar has teamed up with Long Rays and other Australian distillers to brew the biggest festival yet. So big in fact, that the festival has been upsized to a more spacious location. Swapping West End for the bustling Fortitude Valley, the beloved festival will be taking over X Cargo on Sunday 30 January, and promises more gin than ever.

As you can imagine, with great space comes great responsibility to fill that space—and fill it they will. The new location will feature its very own gin alley lined with eight different tasting stations to give you the opportunity to sip on some new potential favourites. You will also find a dedicated Brookie’s cocktail bar for those who like their gin with a little extra goodness in the glass, alongside Covent Garden’s own pop-up gin bar. If you’re looking to take home a whole set of new skills to impress the fellow gin lovers around you, head for one of the festival's private VIP areas where you can do gin masterclasses, cocktail classes and more.

Of course the Ginuary Festival is not complete without their annual countdown of the Hottest 100 Aussie gins of the year, voted by your fellow gin-loving peers from a pool of over 400 nominees.

Tickets start at $39pp for access to the eight tasting stations and free roaming canapes, but there’s also a $145 Gold Pass that includes a four hour gin package, as well as even more VIP options. You can find out all the details and get tickets here
