We don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Brisbane loves gin. There’s not much that gets a Brissie local more excited than the chance to drink gin and celebrate drinking said gin among others who love the spirit as much as they do.
Luckily, there is one annual gin festival that we can always rely on to introduce us to all the best gins of the year, and that is of course Covent Garden’s Ginuary and their iconic Hottest 100 countdown of Aussie gins. And after a rough couple of years thanks to lockdowns and floods, the festival is returning in 2023 with a vengence, taking over Howard Smith Wharves on Sunday 22 January, and promises more gin than ever before.
As you can imagine, with great space comes great responsibility to fill that space—and fill it they will. The new location will feature its very own Gin Tasting Hall ined with 10 different tasting stations to give you the opportunity to sip on some new potential favourites. You will also find a dedicated Gin House, featuring over 100 of Covent Garden's favourite gins for you to combine with Long Rays tonic for a G&T with a view.
Of course the Ginuary Festival is not complete without their annual countdown of the Hottest 100 Aussie gins of the year, voted by your fellow gin-loving peers from a pool of what is this year over 650 nominees.
Tickets start at $69pp ($59 early bird) for access to the 10 tasting stations and free roaming canapes, but there’s also a $119pp ($99 early bird) VIP Pass that includes a festival bag featuring three 100ml bottles of gin and more. You can find out all the details and get tickets here.
