The Southside Crew Throw Open The Doors To An Asian Brunch Cafe In The Heart Of Fish Lane
Anyone who’s frequented South Brisbane’s lush Fish Lane precinct knows it’s a glorious place for bites and sips in the sunshine—and now there’s a fresh landing spot for just that.
Goodside is a new Asian brunch cafe from celebrated Queensland hospo legends Fanda Group, who are also behind Rick Shores, Marlowe, Central and Fish Lane’s very own Southside. In fact, you’ll find Goodside right next to Southside underneath the train bridges in the kiosk that previously held Kiki.

The all-day menu draws inspiration from the comfort food traditions of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, curated by executive chef of Southside and Central Benny Lam. It's a tight offering (there are only seven dishes), with highlights including the prawn ‘har gow’ katsu sando with jalapeno salsa, Taiwanese pork belly rice bowls with tea eggs, and baked coffee buns filled with cappuccino custard.
"Goodside has been a chance to have a bit of fun, to take the food I grew up eating and do something new with it,” said Lam. “The brief was simple: make it genuinely good, not just convenient. Comfort food with a bit of edge. The kind of thing you can eat at 8am, or 2pm, and you're already thinking about having it again tomorrow."

The cafe is also home to all your caffeine needs, alongside signature cold drinks like the Goodside Iced Coffee with dirty iced tea and condensed milk cold foam. Southside fans will also rate Goodside’s take on one of the restaurant’s long-standing cocktails in the Fong Fuego Float: a watermelon mocktail with coconut cold foam.
“Fish Lane has become one of Brisbane’s most exciting precincts and Goodside felt like a natural next step for us,” said Fanda Group owner David Flynn. “There’s a real community there—locals, students, people passing through on their way to the gallery, museum or work in the CBD. We wanted to create something that truly belonged to the neighbourhood.”

Goodside is now open daily from 8am to 2pm. It’s a no-fuss spot with walk-ins welcome and takeaway available.
There’ll also be throwing a grand opening party from 8am on Saturday 27 June with the first 200 Goodside Iced Coffees on the house, menu samples and a DJ and trumpet duo to keep the energy at an all-time high.
