The Eagle Street glow-up continues in leaps and bounds with the incoming news of not one but two brand-new daytime venues, SweetLeáf and LuLóu, from the new kids on the block, HomeTeam Hospitality.

Brisbane’s culinary scene is brimming with hospo groups doing their part to enrich the city—and beyond—with unique, diverse venues. HomeTeam may sound like a new name, but the family-owned team have been part of the Brisbane fold since 2019 with MÁS, followed by their second venue, Élan. Now, entrepreneur and founder Kristina Carson and her family are leaning into their cafe creds to bring two exciting new spots.

SweetLeáf doubles down on the hungry corporate crowds of Eagle Street. It promises quality lunch options with an order-ahead-and-collect flex for nearby workers. The schtick is to pre-order the goods before you leave your desk for a seamless takeaway experience. They also have plans to build in a couple of communal table for a quick dine-in situation.

LuLóu’s approach differs. Instead of being a lunch spot with a two-bites-and-dash pace, LuLóu is all about the sit-down, designed as a destination for client meetings, long lunches, and knock-off wines. Their position is simple—need a place outside the office to eat and work, or step away from the inbox for a moment? Soon, the go-to answer might very well be LuLóu’s.

Both will call 70 Eagle Street home, both operating Monday to Friday, and both brought to life by Brisbane design studio ALKOT and hospo fit-out specialists Lowry Group.

The guiding methods for all of HomeTeam’s venues is, “consistency, warmth and belonging”, says Kristina.

“It's a place where you're greeted with a friendly smile, where you're valued, and where you always feel welcome. It's a standard we live by, and a standard you can expect at every one of our venues. If you're through our doors, you're on the team."

The wall decals are up, construction is underway. We should expect doors for both spots to open later this year in October.
