There’s what seems to be a lot of bridge-building going on in Brisbane these days, so we understand if you’ve started tuning out any news of new green bridges and riverwalks—except when it causes road closures and affects your commute. However there’s one bridge we’re looking forward to seeing completed, and not just because it’s going to make access to the CBD a whole lot easier.
New artist impressions and designs for the Kangaroo Point green bridge (that’s the one going from Kangaroo Point to the City Botanic Gardens) have been released and they feature a pretty swanky looking restaurant and bar perched over the river at the CBD end of the bridge, complete with floor-to-ceiling glass walls to make the most of the river views. Sure, getting more cars off the road in the name of sustainability is great, but a hot new spot for date night? Even better.
Of course, though the bridge construction is set to start later this year, the plans aren’t final, and the Brisbane City Council’s website does say the food and beverage outlets are ‘subject to further investigation and approvals.’ However we’re still going to cross our fingers and hope for a glam new dining spot come the bridge being completed in late 2023.
You can scope the full impression and see what you’ll be strolling, scooting and riding across when it is open here.
