Tucked away inside Petrie Terrace’s The Barracks is one of Brisbane’s best-kept secrets for a romantic night out—and the only place where you’ll find a unique fusion of French and Vietnamese fare. We’re talking, of course, about Libertine, a stalwart of the hospitality scene that’s been wowing diners for over 10 years—and frankly, it’s about time you checked it out.
One quick peek inside and you’ll understand why this is one of our favourite spots for date night. The French colonial-inspired interiors are decked out with three-metre-high chandeliers, as well as subtle Vietnamese touches, which somehow all combine to create a bordello-like feel. On a balmy summer’s night, however, the charming open-air courtyard filled with greenery and glittering fairy lights is the place to be, whether you’re here for a cocktail and snacks or full spread.
But enough fawning over the venue, let's get into the real reason you need to visit—their epic banquet deals. Libertine specialises in banquet-style dining, and trust us when we say they are generous with their courses. Any day of the week, you can lay your napkins on your laps and dig into a five-course feast for just $55pp. This ‘Classics’ banquet menu stars the complete array of Libertine classics, from hiramasa kingfish ceviche and lamb boulettes to duck and ginger filled egg rolls crispy Mt Cotton chicken.
The deals get even better on Tuesday nights. Simply tell the waitstaff "I'm hungry,” and they'll roll out a seven-course feed for $49pp. Yes, $49—we double-checked that number too. Featuring blue crab tartlets, egg rolls, lamb boulettes, crispy chicken, a mixed leaf salad, grill lamb rump and baby sweet potatoes, the banquet is usually $69pp (which is still a damn good deal), but you’ll get it cheaper just for dining on a Tuesday, score.
Fancy a midday respite instead? Libertine's long lunch will fill your light-bite craving with a four-course lunch for $39pp from Friday to Sunday. This one features their iconic king prawn croissants alongside salt baked beetroot, a poached chicken salad and baby sweet potatoes. You can also upgrade to 1.5 hours of cocktails, wine and beer for $60pp on top of any lunch banquet throughout the week—yes please.
If we’ve already got you itching to hit ‘book now,’ you can check out all of Libertine’s banquet menus, plus their a la carte menu if that’s more your speed, here.
