Our Brisbane Editor Just Found Her New Favourite Spot For A Mid-Week Dinner

13th Oct 2025
Written by: Isabella Jeffrey

At Urban List, we reckon your restaurant rotation should be as stacked as your social calendar—variety is the spice of life, after all. Lucky for us, Brisbane’s absolutely brimming with spots to smash a feed, whether it’s a long lunch, coworker chow-down, date night, fam feast, or a cheeky pre-show bite.

One spot hitting all the above—and currently topping our Brisbane editor’s mid-week lunch list—is Sage Yellowfin in South Bank. Perched on Stanley Street, it serves up Aussie fare with a side of serious luxury. The head chef pulls inspo from around the globe, plating dishes that hit indulgence on every level—think fresh-from-the-trawler seafood, primo wagyu cuts, next-level share platters, and a set menu that’s a full-on culinary adventure. Hungry? Let’s dig in.

Feast On Soul-Nourishing Modern Australian Before A Show

Balmy Brisbane evenings are basically begging for a date night with good food and top-notch cocktails. Just a short stroll from QPAC, Sage Yellowfin lets you sneak in a few share plates, sip on something fancy, and soak up the city buzz before a show—because who says dinner can’t be part of the main event?

Our picks? Start with the chargrilled Mooloolaba prawns smothered in chimichurri and garlic cream, before tucking into Gamberoni Piccanti Gratinée, crispy skin barramundi, duck jungle curry or a succulent T-Bone steak. If you really want to impress your love, pair your meal with their curated beverage list. Think: Penfolds Cab Sav and a refreshing Paloma.

Don’t sleep on the dessert menu either. Sweet tooths will want to indulge in their Sicilian tiramisu, or the cardamom cream brûlée with vanilla ice cream. You could share, but our tip is to just order both.

Ditch The Desk For A Long Lunch Or After Work Drinks
Three plates of food

Swap the stuffy conference room for a riverside lunch and rack up some serious brownie points with your co-workers. Large platters like the Supreme Meat (stacked with T-bone steak, spring lamb cutlets, sous vide duck, corn ribs and onion rings) or the Surf & Turf Platter (brimming with porterhouse wagyu, Spanish chorizo, lamb cutlets, Moreton Bay bugs, prawns and Hervey Bay scallops) are total boss-approved bites. Warning: you may need a post-lunch lie-down.

Work shin-digs just got seriously upgraded. Who says luxury dining is only for date night? Sage Yellowfin proves you can go next-level with your work lunches, functions, and group catch-ups too. Choose from a $60 or $85 set menu and devour stand-outs like buttery scallops and blue swimmer crab lasagna. Got a special request? The Sage Yellowfin crew can cater and tweak to make your occasion extra special. Remember, it's never too early to book in that work Christmas lunch.

If your mouth is watering and your stomach is grumbling, Sage Yellowfin is open seven days for reservations and last-minute feasting. Visit for lunch between 11.30am and 2pm from Monday to Thursday or all day Saturday and from 11.30am to 2.30pm from Friday to Sunday. The restaurant is open from 5pm on weekdays, and from 4.30pm on weekends.
