At Urban List we believe you can never have too many restaurants on rotation—variety is the spice of life, after all. Luckily, Brisbane is brimming with places to grab a great feed, whether that's for a long lunch, date night, family catch up, or after a show.
One such spot that's currently topping our Brisbane editor's mid-week lunch list is Sage Yellowfin, the refreshed Stanley Street seafood and grill restaurant.
If the name sounds familiar from a previous reservation or you've visited their sister spot along the coast, you'll be excited to find out that the South Bank restaurant has recently undergone a serious facelift (with a banging new menu to accompany it).
Sage Yellowfin is taking Aussie cuisine and elevating it to the nines—with their head chef curating a menu anyone can indulge in with stand-out dishes from his experience among different cuisines. Think buttery, locally-caught scallops, surf and turf plates to share classic and inventive cocktails.
Feast On Soul-Warming Modern Australian Before A Show
The brisk weather brings the perfect opportunity for cosy date nights, where you can dust off those trenchcoats for dinner and a show with your partner. Sage Yellowfin is positioned just a short stroll down from QPAC, so you’ll have ample time to enjoy a couple of share plates and a vino or cocktail from their premium selection of varietals with your date before making final call.
Our picks? Pair the eight-hour braised beef cheek with cauliflower puree, roasted potatoes, persillade sauce and kale, or slow-cooked lamb shoulder with mash, pea puree and chimichurri with a beetroot salad and sourdough bread to mop up all the delicious sauces. Then, order the creme brulee and the sticky date pudding with an amaro Montenegro nightcap to wash it all down with.
Ditch The Desk For A Long Lunch Or After Work Drinks
Swap the stuffy conference room meetings for a lunch reservation riverside. Feast on blue swimmer crab lasagna with burnt sage, or the ricotta gnocchi with creamy basil pesto, seasonal vege and pangrattato. You'll want to lie down after this lunch feast.
The end of the financial year is fast approaching and to kick off the new year gather your work crew for a group and function booking. With the choice of a $60 or $85 set menu, you can tuck into stand-out favourites like buttery scallops and blue swimmer crab lasagna. Have a special request for the occasion? Sage Yellowfin can cater and tweak to your requests, too.
If your mouth is watering and your stomach is grumbling, Sage Yellowfin is open seven days for reservations and last-minute feasting. Visit for lunch between 11.30am and 2pm from Monday to Thursday or all-day Saturday and from 11.30am to 2.30pm from Friday to Sunday. The restaurant is open from 5pm on weekdays, and from 4.30pm on weekends.
