North Lakes is levelling up in a massive way with a landmark $180 million town centre and dining precinct just announced—featuring a five-star hotel, high-end restaurants and boutique retail. Dubbed a ‘mini James Street’, the ambitious investment by the City Of Moreton Bay will put the destination on the map ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The proposal will feature a 130-room five-star resort with a luxury lagoon pool, high-end dining, boutique retail, and event spaces. You can also expect an expansion of the retail and dining village, with an estimated $538 million injected into the local economy in the first five years.

Whose bringing it to life? The Comiskey Group, who are also behind the recently opened Dakabin Hotel and Sandstone Point’s $250 million luxury expansion. “We put the call out in August last year for an iconic proposal that would elevate the City of Moreton Bay on the tourism map. Comiskey Group’s vision ticks every box with a world‐class design from architects Bureau Proberts, quality dining and genuine community benefit and serious economic horsepower for our City as we head into 2032,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

The precinct is set to take over the beating heart of North Lakes, growing a strong visitor economy while creating more local jobs.

“We’re thrilled to have won the tender for this exciting project,” Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey said. “The resort will blend luxury accommodation with premium food, boutique retail, generous green spaces and event experiences to create a destination locals will love, and visitors will travel for. Designed by Bureau Proberts, the visionary architects behind West Village at West End, the new precinct will create a vibrant cultural hub in the centre of North Lakes.”

The news comes right off the back of Moreton Bay’s first five-star hotel, doubling down on the area’s potential to be Queensland’s next best tourism destination. Construction on the landmark North Lakes town centre will begin in 2026 and we will absolutely be watching this space.
