The Iconic Paniyiri Greek Festival Is Celebrating 50 Years Of Zorba And Honey Puffs This May
Australia’s biggest Greek festival and every Brisbanite’s favourite excuse to eat their weight in honey puffs, baklava and souvlaki is turning 50 this year. Yep, Paniyiri is back for 2026 with a massive milestone celebration you simply cannot miss.
What started off as a simple shindig by The Greek Club back in 1976 has now become an iconic staple of the Brisbane calendar, as well as the nation’s longest running Greek festival. If you’ve ever been to Paniyiri, you know exactly why; its vibrant community atmosphere and plate-smashin’ festivities makes for an incredible experience that attracts over 50,000 people each year.

This year, Paniyiri will once again be transforming Musgrave Park into a Hellenic village on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May. Dance the Zorba, stomp grapes, explore market stalls, and dig into authentic sweet and savoury dishes from multiple Greek regions with a whole lot of loukoumades to go around.
