From Samba’s to Nike Shox, here at Urban List, we’re mad about sneakers. Luckily for us, the curators at HOTA are just as keen. And, from Saturday, 25 November, you can explore the iconic footwear that has influenced fashion, design and culture at the Sneakers Unboxed exhibition happening on the Gold Coast.
Uncover how your favourite footwear has been influenced by styles and figures from Vans to Michael Jordan through immersive visuals, graphics and displays. Explore the design and manufacturing process of popular styles and discover how designers are using tech when it comes to sustainability—not to mention how they keep up with the lucrative $10 billion resale market.
If you’re like us and can’t go past a good after-hours experience, nab tickets for the Up Late session happening from 7pm on Friday, 1, December where you can enjoy access to the exhibit and rooftop after-party. Explore the history behind iconic kicks from Chuck Taylors to Jordan 1s while DJs, an interactive graffiti mural, beatboxing, dance performances and fashion parades take place around you. If that wasn’t already enough to convince you to head along, maybe the workshops and free shoe cleaning will get you there. Go on, let the pros revive those well-worn Air Force 1s.
We recommend you match your ‘fit with your most appropriate dancing kicks for the afterparty upstairs at The Exhibitionist Bar. Fire up the group chat, tickets for this all-inclusive after-dark experience are only $35 and are sure to sell out. If you're looking to level up your night before stepping into the event, book the dinner inclusion with Palette for $135 per person and enjoy a five-course meal inspired by sneaker and hip-hop culture.
If you can’t make the Up Late event don’t worry, this exhibition is running from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 21st January 10am to 3pm at $23 for Adults and $10 for kids.
