Watching the FIFA World Cup at the pub is great, but what if we told you the Socceroos will be kicking off with Brazil IRL in Queensland this year? Yep, no lie—two landmark matches will be happening in the Sunshine State this September and you absolutely need to be there.

It’s all going down in Townsville first on Friday 25 September at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Then, the two teams will head to Brisbane on Tuesday 29 September to take over Suncorp Stadium.

The Socceroos have played against Brazil—aka the most successful national team in World Cup history—11 times since their first encounter in 1998, with the most recent face-off happening in Melbourne back in 2017. While both teams are still vying for the Cup in North America right now, we can almost guarantee the Queensland friendlies will be a doozy. After all, Australia has only won against Brazil once back in 2001.

“Brazil are a world-class football nation, and we look forward to facing them in Australia,” said CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic. “While my immediate focus remains firmly on our 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, I’m delighted that we are locking in fixtures of this caliber, because we want to consistently test ourselves against top-tier opposition moving forward.”

Tickets will go on presale from Wednesday 1 July and to the general public from 1pm on Thursday 2 July. If you can’t be there to cheer ‘em on, you can broadcast both games on Network 10 and Paramount+.

Until then, catch the Socceroos take on the World Cup at Brisbane's best pubs here. And if you're planning on making the trek to catch the games, check out the best places to stay in Townville here and Brisbane here.
