If you’re looking for an epic romantic getaway location, one not too far from Brisbane but that will feel like a million miles away, we’ve found just the spot.

Spicers Peak Lodge, two hours out of Brisbane up in the hills on the edge of the Scenic Rim, is the kind of luxe hotel that you book into for that very special occasion—an anniversary, birthday or even a sneaky proposal. Or you could just splurge on an epic romantic weekend getaway—a stay here is definitely worth saving up your pennies for.

Once you arrive, with the lodge at the end of a winding, 12km gravel road, you pretty much don’t leave until it’s time to check out again. And you won’t want to, especially since the place is gloriously all-inclusive. It all starts with a glass of bubbles in the lodge lounge, preferably by the roaring fire if you’ve booked in for the cooler months. After a hearty lunch in The Peak restaurant, you can officially check into your room, where you can either chill out on your private patio overlooking the fields and make the most of the complimentary mini bar, or change into your best country outfit and start exploring.

There’s plenty to explore—multiple hiking and walking trails criss cross the property, with plenty of lookouts, a rope swing, a bright red phone booth and a few Scottish highland cows to find and pop on the ‘gram. Back at the lodge, there’s a tennis court, activities room, pool table and library, not to mention the two outdoor jacuzzis and spa treatments to make the most of. Or you could just find a comfy spot in the lounge and drink your way through the Australian wine list, if that’s more your style…

For dinner, it’s back to The Peak, where a four-course dinner of elevated Modern Australian cuisine using nothing but local produce awaits, all matched with Australian wines of course. Afterwards, make sure you head outside to look at the stars—out here, with none of the light pollution created by the city, you’ll see more of the galaxy than you thought existed.
