Waffles, cupcakes, strawberries and milkshakes? Say no more. This September, we know where we’ll be heading—the Strawberry and Dessert Festival. Why? Well, obviously because health (strawberries = fruit = health, OK) is our passion, and also because yum, duh.
On Saturday 18 September, The Sandstone Hotel will turn into a fantastical celebration of all things sweet. If it’s anything like the scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that we’re imagining, wear loose-fitted clothing to ensure maximum indulgence and prepare for an abundance of dessert food trucks boasting all your favourite goodies, from waffles to doughnuts.
If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, you can compete in the free (that’s right, free) strawberry eating competitions. What better way to support the local farmers who produce 33% of Australia’s strawberries than to gorge on said produce?
Ready to recreate your delectable consumptions of the day and live out your closeted cheffing dreams? Well this festival has you covered with dessert cooking demonstrations. And for the boozy inclined, fear not, there are cocktail making demonstrations too, as well as a heap of strawberry-inspired cocktails created just for the day. Plus, little ones have also been accounted for with a bunch of kid’s rides to keep them utterly entertained.
