Remember Sugar Republic? The colourful, neon-lit, candy-inspired wonderland that filled your Instagram feeds when it came to Brisbane back in 2018? Well, make sure you’ve got plenty of storage space on your phone, because the creators of Sugar Republic are bringing a whole new pop-up experience to Brisbane, and they’re promising it will be a selfie heaven.

Dubbed The Selfie Lab (because we all know what we’re going for), the new installation is opening at Westfield Chermside on 24 June, and you’re going to want to book tickets as soon as they’re available. With 16 themed rooms to explore (and of course, ‘gram), there’s going to be plenty to see.

The Selfie Lab is keeping things pretty hush hush for now, but the organisers have said that some of the greatest hits from their past touring exhibitions will be amongst the 16 rooms, along with a heap of brand new installations launching exclusively in Brisbane (three words we love to hear). They’ve also promised there will be a Palm Springs motel, a 1950s diner and a topsy-turvy 80s bedroom, along with plenty more.

If past Sugar Republic installations are anything to go by, you’ll be able to hop on swings, hug giant teddy bears and lose yourself in sparkly, colour-blocked and neon-lit spaces.

Tickets will be on sale from 16 June (sign up to be the first to know when they do here), and The Selfie Lab will be dropping behind-the-scenes sneak peeks on their Instagram stories, so keep your eyes peeled.
