ANZAC Day is all about commemorating our diggers, past and present, but, it is also the crown jewel in a string of public holidays that simply can’t be wasted vegging out on the couch after the annual dawn service. Yet again, Brisbane has answered our call with a slew of bars, cafes and restaurants open this ANZAC Day.
In between paying your respects to the ANZACs, you deserve a tasty meal and a frosty drink; these are our fave spots keeping the doors open this ANZAC Day in Brisbane.
The Regatta Hotel
The Regatta Hotel will have its doors open this ANZAC Day, commemorating the date with a post dawn service brekky. They will be open from 5:30 am to keep you fuelled throughout the day, hosting a barbecue with live entertainment from 12pm.
Sake Restaurant & Bar
Sake will be open as usual this ANZAC Day, serving up sushi, sashimi, and of course sake, for lunch and dinner.
If you have a hankering for pizza this ANZAC Day, you will find it at Cloudland. They will be continuing Giro Pizza Wednesday, serving up wood-fired pizzas from 5pm.
The Defiant Duck
Test your luck with the classic Aussie game two-up at The Defiant Duck this ANZAC Day. They will be open from 10am until well after sundown, serving up specials such as rissole sangas and a steak, chips, and tinnie for only $15. Sit back with a cold one and watch the NRL and AFL matches on the in-house screens in what has to be the most Australian evening ever.
The Charming Squire
Raise a glass in remembrance at The Charing Squire this Wednesday, they will be serving up their signature James Squire beers all day.
This year, The Fox will be opening their doors on ANZAC Day to raise funds for Legacy, with 50c from every draught beer going toward the good cause. Come by between 10am and 8pm to pay your respects and play some two-up ring.
If you are keen to be part of the community, soak up some good vibes, and sing at the top of your lungs with 800 other people this ANZAC Day, your ideal spot is The Triffid. They have organised a pub choir on this communal day off, plus they serve top-notch drinks and food. Day made.
Riverbar and Kitchen
Teaming up with Legacy for ANZAC Day is Riverbar and Kitchen, donating a dollar of every beer sold to the good cause. As well as your brewskis making a difference, there will be two-up, live music, and an entire pig on the spit.
Little Big House
Little Big House is throwing a hullabaloo this ANZAC Day to help raise money for Legacy Brisbane. There will be live music into the night, the obligatory two-up station, and free entry to all.
Bulimba bistro, Oxford 152 will be serving up the goods from 12pm, with plenty of dining options and a running game of two-up.
At Sixes & Sevens
If you are hanging around the Valley and could use a cheeky beer and burger, At Sixes & Sevens will be open as usual this ANZAC Day to curb your cravings.
The local haunt of Yeronga, Seven South will be dishing up brekky this ANZAC Day. Pop in between 7am and 11:30am for their legendary acai bowl and an unbelievably good coffee.
Paw Paw Café
Open from 8am to 3pm, 5pm to late, Paw Paw Café will be serving up the best in South East Asian Cuisine for a bite to eat this ANZAC Day.
Sichuan Bang Bang
With restaurants in Paddington, Wilston, and their OG in Kenmore, Sichuan Bang Bang is your go-to for Chinese takeaway this ANZAC Day. They will be open for their usual hours serving up all their classics such as honey soy chicken, pork spare ribs, and of course, dumplings galore.
If you are feeling peckish after the dawn service, head to Remy’s for an 8am breakfast. The cute neighbourhood diner will be open for lunch and dinner as well until 8pm
Gerard’s Bar will be serving up chilled vibes and ramen this Wednesday night. They will be mellowing the mood by not showing the sport and opening up the outdoor seating for a relaxing public holiday.
Billy Kart Kitchen
For those of you on the south side, Billy Kart Kitchen will be open from 6:30am to 2pm this ANZAC Day. Perfect for a delicious café breakfast to start your day!
