Easter eggs and hot cross buns have been on supermarket shelves for (what seems like) months now, so you’d have to have been hiding deep in your bunny burrow if you hadn’t yet realised that the Easter long weekend is almost upon us.
This long weekend, embrace the extra two days of freedom, grab your friends and family and don your loosest pants; it’s time to broaden your Easter palate. Here’s what’s open in Brisbane this Easter long weekend.
Take a break from all that chocolate binge-eating this Easter, with a well deserved feast at Spicers Balfour. Open all (long) weekend long, treat yourself to their new menu amongst the stunning frangipani trees in the courtyard, and try to leave room for dessert!
Wrap your lips around some Asian street food at Junk in South Bank. These guys are relatively new to Brisbane, so now’s the time try their food and be that *cool* person who recommends it later to all of your Facebook friends. They are open from 11am until 10pm, all weekend.
Statler & Waldorf
This Caxton Street gastropub named after two grumpy old men will not make you grumpy at all with their trading hours over Easter. Statler is open all weekend for you to have a bite, have a drink and play some table tennis.
There’s lots happening at Victoria Park over the Easter long weekend. Their bistro will be open, you can still play mini-golf and, on Saturday there will be free Maleny Dairy soft serve. Sunday brings a visit from the Easter bunny and live music all day.
Riverbar & Kitchen
Sit and socialise riverside at Riverbar until 10pm on the public holidays, looking out as the lights of the Story Bridge twinkle away. The gorgeous views will almost make you forget about that half eaten chocolate egg in your fridge…
If you’re an Easter traditionalist and favour a ‘proper’ Good Friday feast, then head to Milton and pull-up a seat at The Fishery. Not only do they have some of THE BEST fish and chips in Brissie, they are (all importantly) open! Hallelujah.
Brisbane’s biggest opening of 2017, Gelato Messina is keeping the masses happy this Easter, staying open until 11:30pm Friday and Saturday. Lickety-split, go and see what all the fuss is about.
The Charming Squire
Fancy a pint (or two) and some delicious spit-roasted meat in a bustling watering hole? The Charming Squire will be open all weekend to cater to your needs. Charmed, we’re sure.
The artist formerly known as Shouk, Naim is famous for its Middle Eastern-style breakfasts and killer pitas. Closed on Good Friday, you can still feast off their menu Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 7am. Remember, there may be a wait, so set the alarms and get going!
Eat Street Northshore
Not sure what to eat this Easter? Then why not sample it all at the iconic food Mecca, Eat Street Northshore (formerly Eat Street Markets). They are open Friday and Saturday 4pm to 10pm and Sunday 11am-7pm.
In case you haven’t had enough sugar yet, Doughnut Time is keeping all of their Brisbane locations open from 10am to 10pm. Go full sugar coma and go to their East Brisbane store which has joined forces with the ice-cream fantasticness of Mister Fitz!
These guys are putting the 'can' into MexiCAN cuisine over Easter. Los Villanos are open from 5pm on Good Friday, 12pm Saturday and Monday and 4pm on Sunday. Have one of their fancy margaritas as an extra Easter treat– we dare you.
One of Woolloongabba’s finest, Pawpaw Café is fresh, light and totally chilled out—the ideal escape from the family this long Easter weekend. It’s your own little Easter oasis.
