When one of Brisbane’s best French bakeries decides to open a restaurant, it’s time to take notice—and that’s just what has landed at Hamilton’s Portside Wharf soon. Harry Ohayon and Maxime Bournazel, the duo behind Rise Bakery, have just introduced a second venue to the precinct, this one a brasserie called Mademoiselle.
Designed by architect Tom Mark Henry and brought to life by Lowry Group, this classic French eatery will whisk diners away to Paris both with its gorgeous interiors and timeless menu perfect for long lunches, romantic dinners and Sunday roasts. There’s even a dedicated bar area where you can start your experience with Frenchified cocktails, or just settle in for snacks and a bottle of something off the lengthy vino menu.
If you are nabbing a table in the softly lit bistro, you can start with entrées of deviled egg with fennel cream and confit prawn, mussels in garlic and chevril butter and ham hock terrine, before moving on to mains of steak frites, Parisienne gnocchi in white onion cream and duck breast with blackberry and juniper reduction. Prefer to share? Opt for the half or full rôtisserie chicken—just make sure you get a side of oven roasted Dutch carrots with lavender honey.
As for dessert, you can get a little slice of Rise here in the form of bakery cakes by the slice—but there is of course a classic crème brûlée on offer too. And good to know—tucked away at the back of the venue is a stunning private dining room that seats up to 10, if you’re looking for somewhere sophisticated to host your next special event.
