In the sweetest news of summer, local gelato favourites La Macelleria Gelateria have launched a brand-new concept for Brisbane—bringing new and boundary-pushing flavours to South Bank.
Zini Contemporary Gelateria was a long-held dream for owner, founder and gelato chef Matteo Zini, who was born in Bologna (aka Italy’s home of traditional gelato) and was ready for a next chapter where he can get creative with flavours from overseas.
Following a successful launch in Sydney, the gelateria has now arrived in Brisbane to keep you cool with a colourful lineup. Think gelato with high-grade matcha from Japan’s Uji region, dulce de leche inspired by Argentina, blue vanilla with organic spirulina, and Dubai chocolate. He’s even taking cues from the Aussie flavour palate, cold infusing specialty coffee beans in a nod to our proud coffee culture.
Like La Macelleria, Zini Gelato is all about no colourants or additives—leaning on carefully sourced ingredients to create a sensory experience for you in every cup or cone. Flavours will rotate, and you can even get your hands on La Macelleria’s popular gelato sundaes, gelato cannolis, gelato-filled cookies, and gelato on sticks.
To celebrate the launch of Zini Gelato, they’re having a special grand opening on Sunday 21 December, giving away the first 100 scoops for free and discounted rates all day.
