What Is Dubai Chocolate?

Dubai chocolate is a viral dessert trend that originated in the UAE, made famous by Dubai-based brand Fix Desserts in late 2023. The original version features a rich chocolate shell filled with crunchy pistachios and sweet knafeh—a traditional Middle Eastern pastry made with shredded filo and syrup-soaked cheese.

Since then, the concept has evolved into a broader style of dessert, one that combines creamy chocolate with Middle Eastern flavours and textures like kataifi pastry, tahini, rosewater, and sometimes even Biscoff or Nutella. It’s indulgent, textural and designed to be snapped open and savoured.

While there's no single “official” recipe, Dubai chocolate is defined by the combination of chocolate decadence and a Middle Eastern twist, making it one of the most photogenic and addictive treats on the dessert scene at the moment.

Burg World might be known for juicy burgers and loaded fries, but sweet tooths know the real magic happens at Doughnut World, which shares the same space. Their Dubai chocolate-inspired creations are next-level, with a must-try lineup that includes a decadent Dubai doughnut, a loaded crookie, and—my personal pick—the Dubai chocolate brownie.

This beauty features a rich brownie base layered with crunchy pistachio kataifi, silky milk chocolate, a drizzle of pistachio cream and a strawberry to top it all off. Go for the burgers, stay for the sugar rush.

This new dessert spot is already turning heads with its viral-worthy creations, and one such number is the pistachio strawberry cup—layers of fresh strawberries, melted chocolate, silky pistachio cream and crispy kataifi, all in one dangerously good spoonful. But the real star at Swieetie

Their Dubai chocolate-inspired chimney cake—a caramelised, pistachio-dipped lotus cone filled with swirls of vanilla and chocolate soft serve, then crowned with more strawberries, kataifi and pistachio cream. Creamy, crunchy, and wildly indulgent, it’s basically dessert royalty. You’re going to want to try both, with a pistachio matcha for good measure.

Ass-Ai Addiction

214 Brisbane Rd, Arundel QLD 4214

If you’re anywhere near Arundel, consider this your sign to drop everything and head to Ass-Ai Addiction. Their Dubai strawberry-brownie cup is pure dessert chaos in the best possible way.

Fudgy brownie bites melt into layers of silky chocolate, pistachio and Biscoff sauce, with golden kataifi adding crunch and strawberries bringing it all together. Topped with ice cream and an extra sprinkle of kataifi, it’s love at first bite. And don’t leave without trying their house-made Dubai chocolate blocks—thick, crisp and totally worth the hype.

Dipcro Pastry

Dipcro Pastry is all about buttery layers and serious pastry craftsmanship, and their take on the Dubai chocolate trend is no exception. Their pistachio Dubai chocolate tart is a work of art—a crisp croissant tart shell filled with silky milk chocolate ganache, golden kataifi pastry and house-made pistachio butter.

It’s rich, crunchy, and impossibly good. Grab a table outside, order a strong coffee, and settle in for what might just be your new favourite dessert moment.

Goji Granola Bar & Cafe

Unit 7/60 Santa Cruz Blvd, Clear Island Waters QLD 4226

Goji Granola Bar & Cafe has gone all-in on the Dubai chocolate craze, and honestly, we’re not mad about it. From gooey brownies and oversized crookies to decadent cookies and a pistachio-packed chocolate block layered with knafeh, their lineup could almost be a dessert menu of its own.

They’ve even given their much-loved acai bowl the Dubai treatment, topping it with sweet, crunchy knafeh for a fusion that somehow works perfectly. Nab a seat on the balcony and prepare to enter dessert heaven—the only struggle is choosing just one.

Toucan Tango

2211 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218

Frozen custard, açai and, you guessed it, Dubai chocolate. Toucan Tango may be the new kids on the block, but they’re already making a name for themselves on the Gold Coast with a seemingly endless supply of deliciousness.

Not only do they have their take on Dubai chocolate strawberries—layers of Nutella, Pistachio Papi, strawberries and kataifi topped with crunchy pistachios—but they also serve up a Biscoff and a Bueno version, and we cannot get enough.

Paddock Bakery

When one of the Gold Coast’s most Instagrammable cafés embraces a food trend, you know it’s going to be both a visual and flavour-packed masterpiece. Enter Paddock Bakery’s Dubai chocolate French toast, a semi-sourdough doughnut toast filled with chocolate crème pâtissière, topped with toasted knafeh, pistachio chocolate cream, rose gel, and vanilla bean ice cream. It’s every bit as decadent as it sounds.

Prefer something a little lighter? Their triple chocolate and pistachio-coated Dubai cookie, stuffed with crunchy kataifi, is just as indulgent and absolutely worth it.

Kefi Cafe

This golden, flaky number is filled with a crunchy mix of pistachio and kataifi, then topped with a glossy layer of chocolate and an extra sprinkle of pistachio for good measure.

It’s buttery, rich, and just the right amount of over-the-top. One of the best cafes on the Gold Coast just gave us one more reason to visit.
