Cold foams are the fluffy little crowns that’ve taken over coffee orders right across the country and, honestly, I’m not mad about it. What started as the mont blanc—cold brew topped with cream, orange zest and a dusting of nutmeg—has since evolved into a full-blown flavour playground.

You can find everything from pistachio-topped pours to strawberry-spiked clouds and dessert-like chocolate creams, and the plethora of cream-focused concoctions is only growing. These days, cold foam is less a trend and more a permanent menu upgrade, and thus worthy of a hunt to find the best on offer across the Gold Coast.

I’ve sipped my way from the northern suburbs to just over the southern border, so here’s your curated list on where to get the best cold foams on the Gold Coast/Kombumerri country.

The Gold Coast's Best Cold Foams At A Glance

Northern Gold Coast Cold Foams

Both Espresso & Wine

12/128 Lae Dr, Runaway Bay QLD 4216

As if this cafe-meets-wine-bar didn’t already cover all bases, now Both Espresso & Wine also serves a spectacular cold foam. Everything that these guys produce is good so naturally, their mont blanc is a standout, too.

The signature cold brew is topped with silky vanilla cold foam, finished with orange zest and a light dusting of nutmeg. It’s balanced, delicious and very easy to go back for another.

Bear Boy won me over a long time ago with consistently good coffee and food, and their cold foams are yet another reason to stop in. The flavours lean a little playful, from pistachio to Earl Grey, and they always feel well thought out.

I like that the foams aren’t limited to coffee either, with matcha getting a look in as well. Whether I’m nearby or passing through, it’s a reliable stop for something delightful and a little different.

Milestone Cafe

1/56 Scarborough St, Southport QLD 4215

Everything at Milestone feels considered, from the menu to the interiors, and even the glassware your drinks arrive in. The cold foam drinks list is just as polished, with options like pink salt cream, vanilla cream, a classic mont blanc, and exciting limited edition numbers to boot.

Milestone always nails the cream-to-coffee ratio which, as any cold foam lover knows, makes all the difference. Trust me when I tell you that this is one of the best cold foams on the Gold Coast.

Vector Coffee

18A Young St, Southport QLD 4215

As if anyone needed another reason to love Vector Coffee, they’re serving some of the tastiest versions of this beverage in town. This Southport favourite is already known for super smooth coffee, vibrant green matcha and scrumptious nosh, it only makes sense their cold foams are just as good.

The mont blanc is a favourite—quality cold brew meets perfectly textured cream, a touch of orange zest and freshly shaved nutmeg to finish—even thinking about it is delicious. Their choc espresso cloud is another memorable option if you’re leaning towards something a touch richer. Either way, you’re guaranteed to love every single sip.

Reasons to love Sonder Broadbeach: dog friendly, uber cool vibe, record player beats, finger licking eats and an already much loved drinks list that’s only become more popular with the introduction of exceptional cold foams.

Whether it’s a chocolate-topped number or a classic mont blanc, the result is always slightly sweet, silky smooth and perfectly balanced. Being just steps from the beach is really the cherry on top.

Elk Espresso

Shop 44 Oasis Shopping Centre, 12 Victoria Ave, Broadbeach QLD 4218

It would be surprising if Elk Espresso wasn’t doing a good cold foam, seeing as they deliver on every other front. In case you needed another reason to visit one of the Gold Coast's best cafes, their delectable cloud-topped drinks range from chocolate and vanilla to rotating specials that pop up regularly.

I particularly like that the foam isn’t reserved just for cold brew—you’ll spot it on matcha, iced lattes and other creative combinations. There’s always something new to try, so keep an eye on Elk’s Instagram for new specials.

Moustache

Not only is Moustache one of the Gold Coast’s best wine bars, but they also serve excellent morning beverages, and their cold foams are no exception. Their mont blancs and other cold foam creations are topped with plant-based foam that’s creamy without being heavy or splitting—and anyone who’s dabbled in dairy-free knows that’s no easy feat.

The cloud-like additions aren’t limited to coffee either, with cream-topped ceremonial matcha that’s well worth toddling over to Nobby’s for. It’s a thoughtful touch that still feels indulgent, and a great option if you’re after something dairy-free that doesn’t compromise on texture.

House of Hälsa

Health hub cafe House of Hälsa has stormed onto the Gold Coast cafe scene, creating delicious takes on trending sunrise beverages with a healthy twist. Their cold foams follow the same formula, with two scrumptious options that have made their way straight to the top of many a Gold Coast locals favourite list.

There’s a classic creamy mont blanc done very well, plus a maple sea salt twist that I keep going back for. Sipping it on their ultra-chic sunken lounge is really just a bonus.

Southern Gold Coast Cold Foams

Palm Springs

1878 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220

Palm Springs is known for its aesthetic fit out and strong breakfast game, but the drinks hold their own too. The mont blanc here is creamy, zesty and refreshing, exactly how it should be.

The pistachio cold brew is also outstanding, topped with pistachio and sea salt foam and finished with a dusting of chocolate flakes. It’s a little extra in the best way.

‘94 Cafe

Not every cafe knows how to tackle a trend and do it well, but ‘94 seems to always step up to the plate with confidence and a unique take before knocking it out of the park. Naturally, with their beginnings being very matcha centred, their creamy, foamy, cloud-like numbers extend beyond cold brew and well into other beverage territory.

They’ve got the classics down pat and, as per usual, the creative and ever-changing combinations are worth telling everyone you know about as well. Bonus points if you can nab one of their sun-drenched curbside seats while you sip.

Lobby has quietly been doing great things ever since they first swung open their doors, and the cold foams are, of course, no exception. It’s the kind of place you go when you want something dependably delicious with a healthy sprinkle of personality.

From the mont blanc to the creamy matcha clouds and the enticing limited edition numbers, every sip is one to be savoured, and certainly worth hunting down a park for.

Public Supply

10/29 Wharf St, Tweed Heads NSW 2485

Public Supply became an instant hit with some of the best cinnamon scrolls the Gold Coast has ever nibbled on, but they also brought killer beverages to match. Of course, they do a classic mont blanc and they do it well, but they were always going to add a Public Supply twist to the trending drink.

The choccy cloud espresso, the matcha blanc, the salted maple collagen and their delectable little strawberry numbers will have you hopping in the car and driving across the border before you’ve even realised where you’re headed. And take it from me, it would be downright rude not to grab yourself a scroll while you’re there.

Sun Devil Drinks Company

30 Bay St, Tweed Heads NSW 2485

Sun Devil might just be home to the most famous cold foams on the Gold Coast, and one sip will help you understand why. The weekend queues are no joke, but I’m sure I’m not alone in arguing they’re completely justified.

Choosing what to order is the hardest part, because every option sounds elite and rest assured it is. My go to is still the old and faithful (and most popular) devil’s advocate: sea salt and vanilla-infused cold brew finished with a cloud of pistachio cold foam—chefs kiss in a cup.
